Dogfighting, while illegal, is one of the main causes of pit bull terrier deaths. Although they die in this ghastly sport, the survivors probably welcome death. They are mentally and physically scarred for the rest of their lives. They are put into shelters, where some of them are so aggressive that they can't be adopted...therefore, they are euthanized. Michael Vick is one of the more infamous dogfighters, because this so-called "animal lover" was arrested late 2008/early 2009 for dogfighting. The brutal sport involves two dogs fighting to the death for money. Sometimes, other than fighting, the female pit bulls are forced to mate with the males. The device is used to manually immobilize the female while the male gives her unwanted puppies. These puppies are usually brought to puppy mills, where they are also bred with the same dog (usually in the same litter), so that they could produce more and more, and so that more and more dogfighters can buy them and continue this bloody sport.
We need to do anything we can to stop this sport and to annihilate it just like how America wants to annihilate the pit bull. Pit bulls are the sweetest bully breeds next to Rottweilers. Highly misunderstood, they are banned in some states, and some pet insurance companies refuse to cover these dogs because of their reputation.
