To coincide with the release of "Captain America: The First Avenger" and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Captain America's debut (even though that was around March this year), it's time for me to host another Marvel Comics Super-Heroes category-based fan art challenge, this time focusing on the "Captain America" category of the superhero-genred franchise itself. Here are the guidelines below:
- Piece must feature a character who appears in the "Captain America" category
- Group pics are welcome
- Can be based on the "Captain America" comics, the 1944 theatrical "Captain America" serial, the 1966 "Captain America" animated T.V. shorts, or any of the "Captain America" movies (the movies are 1979's "Captain America", "Captain America II: Death Too Soon", 1990's "Captain America", and "Captain America: The First Avenger")
- Can be black-and-white or colored
- Can be a drawing, painting, or 2D computer image
- no entry limits
To help you with this challenge, Captain America has a number of supporting characters as well as a number of enemies. Examples of Supporting characters in the "Captain America" comics include James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes (the original sidekick of Captain America), Falcon, Golden Girl, Rick Jones (also a supporting character from "The Incredible Hulk" category), Diamondback, and Sharon Carter (Agent 13 of S.H.I.E.L.D.) while examples of Cap's enemies include Dr. Faustaus, Baron Zemo, Everyman, Hate-Monger (an Adolf Hiler clone from "The Fantastic Four" comics), Flag-Smasher, Red Skull, Red Guardian, Madame Hydra, Blue Streak, Steven Levins (Jack O'Lantern II), Armadillo, Superia, and Nefarius. You can check out wikipedia's entry on Captain America for info.
That's all the details you need to know about the challenge. You have a month to submit your entries to this.
