The Giant robot Dognar 9 is remote-controlled. I conceived both this robot and its operator Hayato Togusama as parodies/spoofs of Tetsujin No. 28 and its operator Shotaro Kaneda.This is indeed a tribute to Mitsuteru Yokoyama's "Tetsujin 28-Go", whose 1963 TV adaptation started the mecha genre of Anime.
