'Rappacini's Daughter' is a short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne, an American writer from the Romanticism period (contemporary with Edgar Allen Poe and Washington Irving, to name a few.) I won't tell you the plot of the story because it's worth reading for yourself; the idea is actually rather advanced for its' time as it's kind of science fiction-ish. Done in my usual medium of colored pencil.
