"This? It's a family mark. Like the name says, blood relatives will have the same mark.

It's a Gate* custom that got started back when native villages didn't used family names and needed a way to keep track. (So people like Sora who are identified by their village still need them.)

By the way, if you ever see a stocky angry guy with the same mark as me, that's my dad. RUN THE OTHER WAY, okay?"
