Oh, I don't know if you've upgraded to GIMP 2.8 or not, but 2.8 has some problems with tablets, as far as I know it isn't registering pressure sensitivity! I ran into that problem, it looks like it'll be fixed in the 3.0 version. lol sorry that was random, but i hope it helps.

Her dresses are going to be different from this point on because I'm striving for historical accuracy. The dress Amelia is wearing was inspired by an actual fashion plate from the mid 1850's. When I first started this comic I just drew random frilly things!

I'm gonna say it's Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the namesake of one of my favorite bands.

Czar Nicholas II? :D I think. Or if Nicholas II is your idol, it's his grandfather Czar Alexander II. /googled
By the way, I really love Amelia's outfit in this chapter! :) It's different from the dresses you usually draw, but it's really beautiful.

i would love to publish my stuff but several sources have informed me that making webcomics are key to establishing credibility among comic publishers. plus i'm still working out some kinks in my artwork and stories so most of my comics will be revised and redrawn (i cringe when i look over the first few chapters of valle lacrimarum!)

I think it's a sort of compulsive quirk. Originally it was just an experimental thing when Azriel's character was first drawn
