No problem. ^^; Sorry if that came off weird at all.
Oh. Alright. Thanks!
To be totally honest, I just went down to the layer I had the bg color on, and just erased those areas where the text was.

Okay, thanks. I'll have to play around with my techniques some more, since usually I use the turnip pen cranked up to 50 or more. Though I always start my comics out on an A4 size file and then shrink them in MS Paint to fit file constraints.
How did you get the white backing on comic 112? I see a lot of people with words on their art/comics that has that white backing (or even a colored one) and all I can ever do is stare in confused wonder.
Just a Nerd (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 07/28/14 | Reply
Depends on which comic/comics we're talking about.
For the latest comic, I used the G-Pen tool for the inking in Manga Studio 5, at about 9 or 10 pixels in size. I also cranked up the stabilizer just a bit, I think (but maybe I did that for one of the paintbrush tools, I can't remember).
For all other digitally-inked comics in this series, I use a basic hardline brush tool in Photoshop Elements 5 (if you have any version of the Wacom Bamboo tablet, it likely came with one version or other of Photoshop Elements in the software package) at about 5 pixels (sometimes 3).
And for the hand-drawn comics, I almost literally use any black ink pen I can find (but never ballpoint if I can help it), and shade with the 10-pack grayscale set of dual-brush pens from Tombo. Hand-colored comics are done mostly in Copic marker, with help from Prismacolor markers and pencils as needed.
Hope that helps! And sorry if it's too much info - I tried to break it up into different paragraphs to make it easier to read.

Which tool do you use to do your inking? I like the look of it, and can never get my lineart to look just right for some reason...

Ahah, aww, I've heard about how humidity can make people's hair go insane, but I've been fortunate enough to never really experience it myself. Maybe my hair is too thick? It's like a sponge when wet, to where I literally have to squeeze it out to get all the water out.

Fancy! I go to USU. I always find it exciting when I figure out someone online lives in the same state as me. There's not many people from Utah online.
Just a Nerd (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 04/07/14 | Reply
Yep, at least during the school year I do since I go to BYU. :D
Wait....if you go to Anime Banzai does that mean you live in Utah? 'cause I live in Utah! I haven't been to con yet though... :T

I don't think this is what Pres. Monson had in mind when he said this, but you never know.

I really, REALLY wish to someday get to see a Zelgadis cosplayer so I can take a picture with him. One year at Banzai I saw a Lina and Amelia pair; they were very funny and we joked about how Zel had gone off to the dealer hall to look for his cure and Gourry was probably lost somewhere. Also saw a Xelloss and a Zangulus that year (the swordsman with the big hat that's always wanting to fight Gourry.)

Comic 74: I do that all the time (except not to the degree of "all hail the glow cloud" + zombified look), and my parents keep freaking out on me. And every time, I say, "It's a [...] thing, I'm not crazy!"
LDS Fangirl! (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 07/01/13 | Reply
I think they consider them as small, sharp weapons. Last time I checked anyway; the airlines should have on their website what they allow and what they don't. It was kinda funny last time I flew; it was Southwest and a parachute is considered by them to be acceptable as a carry-on. Y'know, in case you change your mind mid-flight or something.
Just a Nerd (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 06/29/13 | Reply
Wait, you can't bring nail clippers? o.O; Or is that just in your carry-on?
LDS Fangirl! (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 06/29/13 | Reply
Yeah, I've actually 'smuggled' nail clippers and stuff through security. Though last time I flew, I couldn't take the 20 oz. soda I'd just bought from a terminal vending machine through; I had to get out of line and drink it all before I could pass.

You would think so, but then this person was also fairly new-ish to anime in general, so that could have been why besides the age difference.

o.o ... Yeah, that is decidedly worse. This story was from a friend of mine who works in a call center, though, so this particular strip doesn't really relate an experience of my own.
LDS Fangirl! (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 09/24/12 | Reply
You can hear worse background noises as a call-center worker, I'll tell you that right now. Like when a furious father suddenly starts cussing out his angry teenage daughter and suddenly the call is cut off.
