“Wake up, Jake!” William shook him by the shoulder, laughing.

“I told you he wasn’t scared. He even fell asleep!”, Peter said.

Jake waved his head and lifted it from the couch. He looked at the TV; the hero, with his torn, bloodstained clothes, kissed the girl as the credits started climbing the screen.

“My parents came to pick me up. Wanna go home too?”, Peter asked.

“Yeah, sure.”

Still confused, he said goodbye to his friends. The cold air on the street made him zip the coat.

“Need a ride?” Peter offered as he opened the car’s door.

“No need, my house’s just two blocks away from here…”

Right above their heads, the lamppost failed. It blinked two, three times, buzzed as a giant bumblebee, and suddenly went dark. Jake gulped.

“I mean… It’s so cold out here, I think I’ll take it.”
