Story Description
Months have passed since Earth and the Gamilus-Galman Empire defeated the Bolar Federation, but a new problem arises. The ancient planet Aquarius, which gave life and water to many planets (including Earth) and death to some millions of years ago, becomes a weapon of the Dinguil Empire, who after losing their homeworld due to a flood disaster caused by the ancient planet itself, plan to use it to create floods on Earth that will kill all humans by drowning them, tempting to have the planet itself for themselves. After an early tragic defeat by the enemies, Susumu Kodai resigns from command of the Yamato, which is later placed under command of Juzo Okita, who at last has been cured of his radiation sickeness after being put in a cryogenic stasis following the events in the first SBY T.V. series. The Yamato crew and the rest of the Earth Defense Force find themselves drawn into a struugle to stop the Denguil Empire from succeeding in their evil plot, with a little help from the Gamilus-Galman Empire. Although the destruction of the Dinguilinas is a success, it isn't enough to solve the problem, and tragically, the Yamato has to be detonated to prevent the watery waves of Aquarius from flooding Earth (with Captain Juzo Okita having to stay behind the ship to perform the operation), leaving both humans and Gamilus-Galman people to grieve over the sacrifice. And so, the saga of the Space Battleship Yamato comes to a close.
