Dreams of the Future
Chapter 1
My name is Yuna. Six months ago, I got my beloved Tidus back. Life is good, everyone's happy but... I don't know, it's just... Without anyone to help, it's just a bit dull. I never thought I'd say this but I'm thinking of leaving. Tidus, Besaid, everything! I just want the chance to help people like I used to.
The next day...
Today I found a strange object. It was like a sphere but, somehow, different. There was a book beside it. "For The Chosen"
Greetings, young one. I am Ishtar. I have chosen you to be our saviour. I ask you to use the gift I have given you to save my poor grandchildren. Do not, under any circumstances, allow anybody to take it from you but carry it with you always. Hold it to the sky and chant " Tjid es potere!" A door will appear. Open it. You will see a shining path. Follow it. You will see many worlds but take care not to leave the path. At the end of the path you will see a hole, much like where a fayth had been removed. Jump into it and you will find the world of my grandchildren. You must not allow them to revive the eldest brother or the entire universe will suffer and they will die needlessly.
Trust your instincts, and please Yuna, hurry!
How did it know my name? I checked that the others had gone to the blitzball match and began to follow the instructions, after leaving a note saying that I had just gone out to buy some coffee.
As I walked along the path, I saw such wondrous things. I saw a boy fighting creatures spawned from darkness using, of all things, a giant key! I saw a woman with the ears of a rabbit fighting armed soldiers with her bare hands. I also saw a baby with a tail being dropped to the ground. I almost went to help it but remembered that I shouldn't leave the path.
I reached the hole that marked the end of the path. I couldn't see the bottom so closed my eyes and jumped.
I hit the ground with a thud. "Owwww-" I began but quickly stopped as I heard the sound of footsteps.
"Who are you?" yelped a young man with jaw-length silver hair.
"This is them," purred a soft voice in my ear.
"Who is it, Kadaj?" asked a man with longer hair, reaching for his gun.
"I'm Yuna. It's nice to meet you!" I must have sounded quite nervous as Kadaj glared at the other man, "Um... Where am I?"
"I'm Kadaj. This is my brother Yazoo. My other brother, Loz, is here somewhere. We're looking for our mother!" declared Kadaj, proudly. I smiled back. My father told me "Always smile when you meet someone you don't know. It'll help you make friends."
I was about to introduce myself properly (ettiquette is important, you know) when someone else with silver hair (I assumed it was Loz) ran in.
"Kadaj, Yazoo! Turks! They've got mother!" he cried.
"Turks?" I asked. The three of them seemed quite distressed. Yazoo gave me an odd look before they ran from the room. I followed them. I did have a job to do, after all.
These "turks" as Yazoo referred to them, took the form of a blonde woman and a black-haired man. They immediately opened fire on us. Ishtar had asked me to help them so I started shooting back.
Eventually, we (It's peculiar, I've already started to count myself as one of them even though we've barely met. I suppose I'm their guardian, in a way.) defeated the turks and Yazoo suggested that we tie them up.
"Hooray for Yuna!" said Loz happily, "We really appreciate you help!"
Kadaj and Yazoo clapped politely. Kadaj removed something from each of the "turks" and passed these items to me. It seemed as if they had accepted me as one of their own.
I carefully examined the objects. They appeared to be identity cards, showing their owners to be Elena and Tseng respectively and that they worked for, let's wipe off a bit of the blood (ewww),... the Shinra corporation! I yelped in shock. "Shinra... But that's impossible!" I cried. Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz turned around to stare at me.
"Well, yes," said Kadaj, "That's who the turks work for."
"Reno!" yelled Tseng. While I'd accidentally acted as a distraction, Elena and Tseng had managed to untie themselves and run off. A strange machine came flying in and they quickly climbed aboard.
"So now we still have no idea where mother is..." sighed Loz.
"Don't cry, Loz," sneered Yazoo.
"Huddle!" yelled Kadaj. The three of them quickly huddled together. I managed to pick up a few fragments of their conversation.
"...he might know..."
"...won't like that..."
"...trust her?"
"...not right..."
"Ok, we're decided. We're going to ask our big brother, Cloud, if he knows where mother is. Yuna, would you like to come with us?" smiled Kadaj. Yazoo sniggered. Kadaj glared at him.
I climbed onto the back of Kadaj's um... I think he called it a motorbike.
"Off we go!" I smiled, even though, deep down I had a very bad feeling about this.
