Nuuuuuu (╥﹏╥) That's such bad news, I mean theO has been rather inactive lately anyways, well this whole year so far its been pretty inactive. This will make it even more inactive. I mean I get it in a way because there was some real quality issues especially with the cards and some cards just were poorly done. But still there were some really beautiful ones too, taking away iwallies and cards makes theO feel like it's really missing contents now. it feels so much more empty cause there's not as much to do. I hope the next announcements will be good ones. I won't lie I'm beginning to worry about the future of theO, if it continues like this it feels like it'll just die out. (╥﹏╥)
My heart just sank u.u I finally got the chance to come back only to find out that the e-card section is retired. I was hoping I would be able to contribute more since I finally have a computer with me. Oh well... I do hope though that the coming changes would be positive.
Artists though enjoy and love making them despite not getting a lot of views (actually it's not just these sections, members here are kinda not active anymore).
I'm just sad over the cards I made and didn't get to submit. I'm not gonna say anything more 'cause it won't change a thing.
Maybe there can be a category in the fanart section to allowed this type of design. personally wallpapers require lot of specification and limit some effects and resources that other digital arts with different dimension can show.
Late to the party! But, same as everyone else, though I understand the choice, I'm still a bit sad to see the ecards go. They were such a nice way for us to improve our art and offered so many creative works over the years... I'll miss doing/seeing those~
Yep mainly it was the quality concern (or lack thereof) that was the downfall of the e-cards. I loved making those cards. They were good practice for me and I often applied what I did to cards to wallpapers and iWallpapers. Miss those too. Just thought I'd drop my 2 cents in too.
Agreed. It was the standard of quality [or lack thereof] that ultimately killed these sections. It's a shame the digital artists remaining on this site don't have much of an outlet anymore.

Maybe the iphone and ecard area have indeed less views than other sections but i do believe there are many good iphone and ecard designs that would be a shame to delete them. I think instead they should meet an standard of quality to be posted. i even tried to deleted my first works since they were pretty embarrassing for me. some people dont know how to draw and those section for me is a special way to express as a digital artwork as a fan like a fan art for those that like i said dont have the ability to draw so we use this tool to design and post them.
Devastating to see ecards thrown in the bin after all this time. Understandable logic, but still disappointing all the same. I'm thankful for having been here during the medium's heightened popularity. I will truly miss popping in from time to time and seeing the incredible works of some of my oldest TheO friends... Thanks for the memories.
Wow, e-cards are gone... But, sadly, I can understand the reason why. Although I loved to make e-cards when I just dont have enough time for making a wallpaper; that section was nearly dead anyway.Nobody was looking there, nearly no new artist was doing any work; it was just us; oldies. So I just hope that these new changes make the site a little bit crowdier again. Because theOtaku really is a special place for me; my first photoshop experience, my first communicating on the internet experience lies in here. I dont want this site to sunk in to the sea with my memories.

I'm looking forward to these changes. I'm sad to see e-cards go but there's really no need for them anymore. As for the wallpapers, I'm surprised. But I can see how it'd be hard to keep up with so many phone models and such.
I just saw this in my old email and to be honest, I'm really sad to see both these features go away (especially the eCards). I liked making eCards because it became a challenge to make a quality graphic in such a small dimension. I improved with editing along with the other quality ecard makers. And this is something exclusive to theO that makes it stand out.
But then again, you do have a reason to do so. Mobile wallpapers come (and will come) in many dimensions. Also since I became a member, I always wondered if eCards are actually being used when there's tons of social media/messaging apps available to send your message. This site isn't strict with quality submissions so eCards are the easiest to make and why bother accepting more when it's not being viewed anymore.
I'm happy enough that they are not deleted forever and are still accessible in the page (and user portfolios I think). Thank you so much for this wonderful experience.

I'm sad to see both these features go. Making eCards really encouraged me to work at improving my skills over the years. However, I do understand the reasoning behind this decision, especially regarding the iPhone section.
I'm planning to still create eCard style graphics, after nearly ten years of making them as a hobby I don't think I'll be able to give it up easily, haha. I'll just add them to one of my worlds
Thank you to everyone who works so hard to keep theO going. I look forward to the new developments! In the mean time perhaps I'll brush up on my wallpaper skills.
It's really sad to see these two sections go, as nowadays they're more my primary way of making graphics, but your reasons for taking them out are completely understandable. I loved looking at both of these sections as I felt it was very exclusive to the site, and there are so many talented artists who contributed to both of them who's works that I absolutely admire, as their eCards/iWallpapers were of very high beautiful quality. I can only hope they continue to make said art and perhaps host them in their graphic art worlds. (That's something I will do as well.)
Even though I just finally got in on the graphic making scene well over 3 years ago now, submitting to these two sections has been a joy and I thank you for the wonderful opportunity of allowing us to do so. I've considered taking up regular Wallpapers again many times after awhile, and now this too, may be yet another chance for me to do just that. I hope I can continue to better myself as a graphic artist this way as well.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the new changes hold and I too hope they're positive ones. In these recent days, I can't quite help but worry about the future of the site with all that I'm seeing/hearing about. I love this place dearly as its really changed my life for the better and I've met some very amazing people here who I'd never thought I'd end up being so close with. This place is filled with so much greatness and potential and if anything, I would gladly volunteer to pitch in to try to help in any way I could. I could think of no greater joy than giving back to this outstanding community.
I will miss the mobile wallpapers because I use then on my tablet ...but I understand your reasoning! Thank you to all that shared their works there! also in e-cards! I used to use it a lot before the coming of smartphones and tablets..it was really cool and fun to use them!

I'm honestly both sad and very disappointed to see the iWallpapers and ecards section taken down. For one, I felt like they were a good way for me to practice new techniques with image placement, text, and new texture blends. I loved looking a the QUALITY e-cards theO had and that were submitted by some very talented graphic artists. I'm honestly sad to see that go.
On the other hand, loosing Iwalls doesn't really disappoint me that much as there are so MANY different kinds of mobile screens that are sized so differently. However they were also a great creative outlet for me and I'm sad to see that go as well.
I'm more sad about loosing the cards because that was something both wonderful and unique to theO. I hope these new changes will jump start this site again. I have been a member for almost 10 years here, made some great friends, and have learned a lot, still learning a lot and I don't want to loose that platform.

I do have mixed feels about these two sections being retired from this site, but I can totally understand the reasons behind them being taken down. For now I hope that they get replaced with something bigger and better.

I can understand the mobile wallpaper sizes being too hard to keep up with, but the graphic artists here are some of the best I've seen (seriously, even DA with all its talent doesn't have beautiful wallpapers like the ones I see here), and e-cards were something unique to theO. Some people submit exclusively to wallpapers and e-cards because that is where their artistic skills lie. I'm very disappointed to see these disappearing.
It's really too bad that those sections had to go, but I can understand what you mean with the problems with them. I'm hoping that the coming changes will be positive as well. This is a wonderful place full of great art and even greater friends. If there's a way I can help make it better, I'm certainly willing to pitch in and help in any way I can.
Aw that's too bad to see them go but I do agree, the mobile devices come in too many variations to keep up with. Excited to see what new changes you have in mind.
Though it's sad to see them go, your reasons for nixing those two sections make sense. To be honest, I hardly ever checked out the "iWallies" and roughly 80% of the eCards were of poor quality. There were some really good eCard makers, though, and I hope they stick around and make regular wallpapers.
I hope the changes you announce will be positive ones. I'm really worried about the state of theO because I love this site. If there's anything I can do to make theO bigger and better, please let me know. I'm aware of how little power I have, but I want to do something.
