According to recent reports, a coalition of over 40 U.S. and Japanese manga companies have started an initiative to take down 30 of the most popular scanlation sites on the internet. The coalition, which includes big names like Shueisha, Viz, Square Enix, and Kodansha, claim "scanlation aggregator" web sites now "host thousands of pirated titles" and "[undermine] foreign licensing opportunities and unlawfully [cannibalize] legitimate sales". The targeted sites have not been named, but the coalition released a statement saying they have already threatened legal action against most of them. Source Link
