The Nintendo 3DS is due to launch soon, but rumors have been flying around as to whether the system will be region-locked or not. Nintendo has all but confirmed it recently, saying that the handheld will be available in a Japanese, North American, or European/Australian version, citing age rating requirements, languages, and parental controls as some of the reasons for separate developments. If such is the case, fans wanting to import games from other regions would have to also own that region's 3DS. Looks like gaming got a bit more complicated--and costly. Source Link
