According to the folks over at JoBlo.com, Keanu Reeves has officially passed on taking on the starring role in a live-action adaptation of the AKIRA manga. Adding insult to injury on the production front, shortly after Reeves passed on the offer, Warner Bros. reportedly released a lot of people working on the movie's pre-visualization team, though reports say the events are not related. Warner Bros. has stated production of the movie "has not been halted or shut down, as the film has not yet been greenlit and is still very much in the development stage." The official statement went on to say the studio will continue to "sculpt their approach to make the best film possible."
