David O. Russell has officially left the "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" movie adaptation, citing - no surprise - creative differences with Sony.
Russell is a great director, no doubt, but fans of the series were having trouble getting into his vision of the film; rather than telling the story of an everyman-action-survivor-treasure-thief, he planned to tell the story of a family of guardians "meting out justice in the world of art an antiquities." In any case, both parties split amicably, Russell has signed on to work with Mark Wahlberg on another project, and Sony will continue to "aggressively develop" this movie.
As for whichever new director they hire for the movie... well, let's hope they give our boy Fillion another look, hey?
