Here's some food for thought news bit now that the whole State of California vs The Entertainment Software Association legal battle is over.
As everyone had suspected six years before the State of California proposed its law to make it criminally punishable to sell violent video games to underaged minors, the bill was deemed unconstitutional by the United States Supreme Court. So video games won over wasteful, pointless litigation. And that is good.
Of course, now that they've suffered six years of legal fees, the ESA today filed for a 1.1 million dollar reimbursement motion from the State of California. Generally, that's how things go, no surprise. The hitch comes when you remember where the State of California gets its money to pay for its legal fees (and in turn any future potential reimbursements): taxpayers. We just can't win in today's world, can we?
GG, California. GG.
