The popularity of South Korean culture, also known as the "Hallyu Wave", in Japan isn't to everyone's taste; particularly to one now unemployed Sousuke Takaoka.
Takaoka, a Japanese actor whose films include Crows ZERO, was compelled to leave his agency Stardust Promotion after writing critical tweets on the Hallyu Wave. In his Twitter criticisms, he accused Fuji TV of becoming a Korean TV station, and how the Korean wave is akin to "brainwashing".
Of course, criticizing the industry that employes you might cause problems with your future employment, as Takaoka learned. He later acknowledged the "inconvenience" his remarks caused Stardust Agency, and expressed his gratitude for the support he was given.
