Two Actors in Contention for Akira Role
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed two names for casting in the role of the main antagonist Tetsuo in the live adaptation of Katsushiro Otomo's masterpiece manga Akira. The casting directors have met with relative unknowns Ezra Miller and Alden Ehrenreich for the role of Tetsuo Shima, the friend of the protagonist, Shotaro Kaneda, until an accident gifts/curses him with telekenetic powers. In addition, Garrett Hedlund of TRON: Legacy fame as been asked to take the role of Shotaro. Three other actors; Helena Bonham Carter, Gary Oldman, and Keira Knightley; have all been approached for undisclosed roles.
