I first met Ichigo in 2005. I was promoting our just-released book on drawing anime, Art of Otaku, and stumbled upon his popular podcast, Anime Pulse. I was floored by the show's quality and the depth and chemistry of its hosts (at the time Ichigo, Batou, and Chigo). After listening to just one episode I knew we had to work together and humbly asked the crew if they would be willing to take on a second, shorter show with a focus on theOtaku.com. They agreed!
Every week since without fail, Ichigo has put out a new, quality episode. There are now 10 26-episode seasons with over 750,000 downloads between them. The podcast has documented many of the most important occurrences in our history, from the big charity scandal to our Version Vibrant relaunch, to the many small moments in between. It even survived a number of host changes and Ichigo's marriage and relocation to Japan.
Sadly, Ichigo is ready to move on and there will be no more podcasts after the end of this month. On behalf of theOtaku's staff I'd like to thank him wholeheartedly for his diligent hard work and great commentary and to wish him the best for future successes.
Now it's your turn...
Please use this post to comment like crazy with your thanks, reminisces, and questions. Let Ichigo know how much you appreciated his hard work!!
