Historically, anime fans have never been fidelity snobs. The oldest generation thrived on grainy VHS tapes and the next obsessed over choppy online fan subs. If the colors were off in a scene or if the audio skipped a beat, that just added to the charm and exclusivity of the experience. Have times changed?
In the age of Blu-Ray and officially licensed, high-definition streams, we wonder how important graphical and audio fidelity is to the modern anime experience. Would you watch a DVD now or wait an extra month for the Blu-Ray? Would you pay for an HD stream when the low-res version is free?
