Shonen Jump Celebrates 45 Years
The magazine Shonen Jump Weekly, which introduced the Western world to many manga like DragonBall, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, and Death Note, celebrates its forty-fifth anniversary on July 13. In celebration, legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama will launch a new manga, while One Piece and Naruto will have "super color" versions. Link
Miku’s American Tour
In 2010, the Vocaloid line revealed the development of an English version of the Hatsune Miku synthesis software. According to a new website, Hatsune Miku English will get her groove on this summer. Link
Silver Spoon’s First Trailer
The first trailer for the anime Silver Spoon has been posted. Based on the manga by Hiromu Arakawa (Full Metal Alchemist), the story tells of Yūgo Hachiken and his thirst for education. When regular high school bores him, he decides to challenge himself and enroll in an unorthodox agriculture school.
Miyazaki Shall Not Leave Film Industry
Despite a quote from Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki that Kaze Tanichu will be Hayao Miyazaki’s "last testament," the 72 year-old director denied such rumors with a smile. At a press conference on Monday, he was quoted saying, "A last testament is what you leave when you are dying, but I think I’ll live a bit longer." Link
Wolf Children Dub Cast Announced
FUNimation has announced the official dub cast for Mamoru Hosoda’s acclaimed film Wolf Children. The dub premieres at Otakon in August and features Colleen Clinkenbeard, Allison Viktorin, Lara Woodhull and David Mantranga. A theatrical release and home release is expected later this year.
Blood-C: The Last Dark Dub Announced
FUNimation also announced the dub cast for the Blood-C film, The Last Dark. Based on the CLAMP/Production I.G. anime, the cast includes Jad Saxton, Mike McFarland, Justin Cook, and Josh Grelle. A release date has yet to be announced.
Trigger Wants Sequel For Magical Anime
At Anime Expo, Studio Trigger announced that their recent work, Little Witch Academia, has been quite popular on YouTube. They now want to create a sequel, funded by a forthcoming Kickstarter. Link
To Catch A Killer
In preparation for the release of the new Ace Attorney video game, the Tokyo Joypolis amusement park in Yokohama is giving attendees the chance to be just like Phoenix Wright. A temporary attraction asks attendees to solve the murder of a famous musician while defending the main suspect by finding clues and solving puzzles. Link
