At Long Last, The Story of Red

Now, get ready to relive the classic video game Pokémon Red through the new anime Pokémon: The Origin. The series premieres on October 2nd.
City Bans Manga Classic
High schools in the city of Matsue have banned the renting of Keiji Nakazawa’s manga Barefoot Gen. Complaints have stemmed from depictions of the Nanking Massacre and other Japanese war crimes in WWII. Nationalists and history revisionists were the main vocal group, denying these events have ever occurred. Link
Three Visionaries, One Robot
Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion), Kazuya Tsurumaki (FLCL), and Mahiro Maeda (Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo) have teamed up to bring forth the live-action series Andō Lloyd. Based on the novel by Yumie Nishiogi, the series tells of a recently deceased scientist who left behind a grieving fiancée and his robot that steps in to fill the gap caused by his absence. Dress Up Grows Up
Tuesday marked the premiere of Syfy’s six part series Heroes of Cosplay, a show dedicated to the art of cosplaying through competition. Judges base their decisions on three criteria and the winner takes homes the glory.
The Titan Killer and The Thief
For the 24th Lupin III TV special entitled Lupin III: The Princess of the Breeze, the voice directors decide they needed a voice actress of recent fame for the role of Yutika, the aforementioned princess, preferably one skilled in strong-willed characters. They went with Yui Ishikawa, known best for her role as Mikasa in Attack on Titan. The special premieres in the fall. Link
War In The Sand
In other Attack on Titan news, beachgoers in the island town of Enoshima were in for a surprise when a fight broke out on the beach. Though, it’s not what you would think. Sand sculptor Toshihiko Hosaka created this vicious match between Eren Jaeger and the Colossal Titan. When all was said and done, the build took ten days to complete.
RIP Jun Sadogawa
Manga creator Jun Sadogawa passed away from an apparent hanging suicide. He was 34 years old. His body was discovered in Shinsui Park in the town of Tone. Sadogawa is best known for his manga Ramen Fighter Miki, which was adapted as an anime in 2006. At his passing, he was working on the manga Amane Atatameru. Link
