Artist Feature of the Month: February
First post! I figured I'd start posting some of the material that get's posted on our Facebook Page. One of my favorite suggestions is to feature an artist from theOtaku each month. This person is someone who (1) inspires others with the works (2) is a role model and provides feedback to others (3) and is still relatively active on theO!
Our Featured Member For February is: Ritona Raito
We thank her for her time in answering our questions below.
1. How did you come across theOtaku?
A: I found TheO several years ago while scrolling through someone's profile page on MyAnimeList.net. They had a TheO quiz result linked to their page, and so I followed the yellow brick road and wound up here years later.
2. Where did you come up with your username?
A: My username is a combination of Light Yagami (Raito Yagami) from 'Death Note' and Yoko Littner (Yoko Ritona) from 'Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann', two of my favorite characters at the time when I created this account.
3. What type of art do you specialize in?
A: I wouldn't say I specialize in any particular art style. I like to work with a smaller canvas on PhotoShop, mostly just manipulating lighting and minor details. Oh! I like to vector.
4. How do you think theOtaku has assisted with your art growth?
A: It's helped me in ways I can't even begin to list. I mean, I've met some incredible artists on here that have helped me along the way by allowing me to adopt some of their practices and styles.
5. Who has inspired you on this website? In general?
A: A few years ago there was a specific group of card makers, and I felt they all impacted me in a very strong way. Angel Zakuro, BabyD, CleaversForKids, Felcie, and sweetdevil have always stuck out to me, and I love their work (and them) to bits.
6. What are your primary art tools?
A: I do most of my work with PhotoShop CS2 & MS Paint. I'm a big fan of layering, patterns, color manipulation, typography, and PS actions.
7. Anything else you’d like to share? (Quite literally, anything!)
A: Hmm, just keep rockin' it, TheO. Here's to a new year & hoping that one day the card section can be as glorious and active as it once was!
