Hello everyone! Sorry for the slight delay.
Just a note, currently artist features of the month (AFotM) will only be featuring visual artists, however, we intend to expand so that every member will have the opportunity to be chosen.
Our Featured Member for March is: Chibi-Anna-Chan
We'd like to thank Anna for taking the time to complete the interview, as well, thank you to Edisshort for creating some of the questions featured in this interview.
1. How did you come across theOtaku?
A: Oh, goodness that was a while ago. I think I was just searching Google for anime images to use as a screensaver or wallpaper. One of the results must have been from theOtaku, it may have been a quiz result. I thought the quiz sounded fun, so I made an account, then tried to make a few eCards and never looked back!
2. Where did you come up with your username?
A: A friend of mine used to call me that, I lived with her while I was at University, and she introduced me to anime as I hadn't really watched any asides from Pokemon and Card Captor Sakura. I still think of changing my username now and then, but I've had it for so long it would feel a bit odd. I use Kaerlyn elsewhere, so one day I may swap to that, it is less of a mouthful XD
3. What type of art do you specialize in?
A: I feel like I'm still learning a lot! I suppose as far as theO goes, mainly eCards/iWalls these days, though I have been trying to spend more time drawing.
4. How do you think theOtaku has assisted with your art growth?
A: Well it certainly boosted my confidence, that is for sure. It helps a lot that the community here is so supportive. I'd never used Photoshop or GIMP before discovering theO, my early eCards were made with a combination of MS Powerpoint and MS Paint! But I wanted to make better things so I kept experimenting and learning new programs. Talking to folks on theOtaku also inspired me to get a graphics tablet.
5. What is your favorite color?
A: Green. Or a nice, deep colored Purple. (I'm greedy, I can't choose one!)
6. Who has inspired you on this website? In general?
A: Oh gosh there are too many to mention! Several members who have sadly left theOtaku, and a good handful who are still here. It really would be easier to just browse through the art I have saved to my favorites over the years as I've been on theO for a long, long time now XD buuuuut I have to mention Tauria, Angel Zakuro, and thelostsindar as they are some of my closest buddies on here, and each of them inspires me with their art as well as their friendship. Also I really admire superstarpanou, Mangakid, toyotami kun, moonlit dream, ItachiSasuke, Brunette, Kachikamac, 15385bic, Ritona Raito, yuko9kost, BabyD, Felcie, Dark Flame 3479, Blue Latte, LoveInChains and so many more! If I leave comments/message you, then consider yourself an inspiration in some way!
7. How do you decide when an fan art/ ecard/ wallpaper is finished?
A: With difficulty? Haha, well with an eCard it is usually the typography that gives me issues, so when I'm happy with that is when it is finished. With any graphics project I experiment with doing different things, so each time I end up making a couple of variations before I choose the one I am most pleased with. Hmm, with fanart I tend to always feel there is more I can do to it, but I don't have a really 'polished' style, so I just leave things when I am happy with them, without pushing things to the point of ruining them. I'm still learning ^^
8. Have you ever taken art classes?
A:Nope. Well, asides from the classes that are mandatory in school until year 9/10 XD But I was always doodling little cartoons when I was a kid. Usually of animals.
9. Anything else you’d like to share? (Quite literally, anything!)
A: Just a big thank you to everyone on theO, friends, artists old and new, and moderators/admin/bossman-types :D for making this place so supportive and fun. I'm happy to call TheOtaku my 'internet home', I've had a lot of fun here over the years, I hope to be kicking around here for a few more years to come!
