"Make something every day and change your life!" -Noah Scalin

The only rule is: there are no rules!

Most Important: Don't stress out. Remember, this about taking little steps. When doing your daily project, focus on the current day and don't think about tomorrow, next week, or next month. Big projects can be incredibly daunting, but you'll be amazed at what you can do when you break them down into a series of tiny, manageable pieces.

The key to a successful daily project is deciding on a subject or medium that you will enjoy exploring for a year.

Keep in mind that a simpler idea will go a lot farther than a complicated on. If you choose a consistent subject matter (skulls, stars, smiley faces, chihuahuas, etc.), pick something you already like. You probably have plenty examples of it in your environment to inspire you, and you'll be less likely to get tired of it before a year is over.

and lastly, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT DOCUMENT!!!!! take pictures/video of not only the finished product. maybe take some of you in the process of making the project. and if it is something that will change over time (snow melting, food rotting), document that as well.

~-~-I will post the day's prompt early in the morning. when i finish my project, i will upload the documentation. in the evening i will post tomorrow's prompt to give you a head's up with the spoiler alert. ~-~-

all prompts and the above introduction rules are from the book A Daily Creativity Journal 365 Make Something Every Day And Change Your Life! by Noah Scalin

DAY 54

PROMPT: connect the dots. make something only using dots. the dots could be from stipplling from a pen, the circles cut from paper using a hole punch, or even small, round price stickers.

i originally wanted to do a stippling of mindy, but she kept moving. so i did sheba instead. she is my childhood stuffie, and i love her dearly.

DAY 53

make something in which the sense of smell is the essential component.

this is what we call stinky. it is wet cat food that our cats share for breakfast. it smells AWFUL! but i used a plastic fork to move it into a kitty face before giving it to one of my cats.

DAY 52

PROMPT: work upside down. create something in such a way that you have to rotate it 180 degrees to display/see it when it's finished.

this is augustus (gus for short). he is our newest kitty. we just get him last night. i took this picture of him at the water bowl upside down.

DAY 51

PROMPT: make something that would not normally be considered cute and cuddly into something that is.

i took my car keys and painted a cute kitty on it, and attempted to write a little phrase in japanese. can anyone tell what it says?

DAY 50

PROMPT: be a minimalist. work only with white materials today. try working white on white for a real challenge.

i used the die cast cut thingy at school to cut out a fish, fishbowl, large square, and a kitty bookmark. i then arranged them on a white piece of paper to make a kitty sitting on a shelf watching a fish in a fishbowl on a larger shelf.
