Hey! MangaKid again :D
Now I know some of you use Copics like me. They are amazing markers^^ But if you haven't bought them yet, here's a guide to help you out!
-There are 4 types of Copic markers (listed from least expensive to most expensive):
CIAO (I own the Ciao type)
SKETCH
ORIGINAL
WIDE (aren't they cute?!)
-Copics are all refillable! Just buy an ink bottle such as THIS and please check out how to refill them by clicking HERE.
-Be aware that when you buy one colour, you'll want them all xD And also remember that all types of copics can be used together.
-You can also get a Copic marker called the Colourless Blender. For more info on it, wait till I can write some xD
-As for more info on colours, please check out this FAQ. It has all the info you need^^ And in the future, I'll have some Copic tutorials for you all!
-When you buy Copics, you can buy them separately or in a pack. I bought one pack, but now I buy them separately. Warning: If you buy them separately, making sure the lids snap when you close them. If not, choose another marker. The only thing I've had problems with when it comes to Copics are the lids. I actually returned some markers and got replacements for free since the lids wouldn't close very well (and those markers were part of the pack).
-Also, relating to what I said above, your Copics can get dirty inside the lids (either from a bit of leaking which is rare, or from you accidentally touching the insides with the tip). The ink dries into a weird film if applied to anything other then paper and fabric. It can take a while to wash off and it also hinders your marker from closing properly. It disappointed me at first, but now I've dealt with it so its not too much of a problem. There isn't any proper way to fix it, but you just need to get a tool that can fit inside the lids and scrape the dried ink off. Don't get worried though, because I find only certain colours such as black and dark grey do this! Personally I find wiping out the lid with a crinkled piece of paper works best, for some reason.
-Paper... very important! If you decide to spend your money on Copics, then you've got to decide to spend in on quality marker paper! I use Borden&Riley #100s Smooth Cotton Comp (100% rag marker paper). I believe Bristol and Vallum work well too. DO NOT use Copics on normal printer paper or watercolour paper as they'll suck your marker dry and also not blend your markers as well. For now, I don't have much more info on paper types for Copics so you can get a better idea yourself by asking your art supplier, researching online, and by experience. I will try to get a little more info on paper types for you!
I will add more info if I think of anything. Please PM/comment if you have questions or ideas!
