Since the news being presented here is from other sites, they are not my original work and all credit goes to the original author. I'm really bootleging information, thus this world's title.

Well, hope these posts are useful and if you want to be a guest poster, please pm me.

Ok, I finally made a background^^ but I'm still tinkering with the header banner though. If you have ideas about the Bootleg's design, please let me know.

Funimations News

Funimation has issued new retailer solicitation lists, and thus confirmed that it will ship the anime series Red Garden and Welcome to the NHK in December in two DVD box sets each, instead of single DVDs. Both titles were formerly released by ADV Films before their rights holder Arm Corporation transferred its licenses to Funimation. ADV Films had shipped five of its six planned DVDs for Red Garden before canceling its release earlier this year. However, the only way to get the final episodes on a North American DVD is to get Funimation's Red Garden Complete Collection Part 2 box for a suggested retail price of US$49.98.

Similarly, ADV Films released five of its planned six DVDs for Welcome to the NHK However, Funimation is only releasing the final episodes in its Welcome to the NHK Season 1 Part 2 box set, which will retail for a suggested price of US$59.98. On November 25, Funimation is releasing another former ADV Films title, Pumpkin Scissors, in two box sets for US$59.98 (suggested retail price) each, although ADV Films had released all but one of the DVDs for it.

Asura Cryin' Light Novels' Anime Adaptation Green-lit

An anime adaptation of Gakuto Mikumo and Nao Watanuki's Asura Cryin' light novels has been green-lit for television release in 2009. The announcement was made during the final stage presentation at the Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten (Dengeki Books' Fall Festival) event on Sunday. (Wolf and Spice's second anime season was also announced at the same time.) The semi-serious school action story revolves around Tomoharu Natsume, a boy who has been haunted by a ghosty girl who was a childhood friend. Mikumo and ASCII MediaWorks will publish the 11th volume of the light novel series on Friday. Mikumo wrote a novel based on Takashi Shiina's Zettai Karen Children manga, which was also adapted into anime.

The American cable television channel IFC will debut Studio DEEN's first Hell Girl anime series on its linear channel tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The 26-episode series had already premiered on IFC's video-on-demand service through Funimation earlier this year. The titular character is a girl who can be summoned by anyone to condemn another human to Hell — but the summoner must also pay an eternal price. Coincidentally, the third Hell Girl anime series, Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae, will premiere in Japan on October 4.

(A big thank you to The Mask for sending in this little piece of news)

Taro Aso, the Japanese politician who's well known among otakus for being a fan of manga, formally took over as Prime Minister of Japan on September 24, 2008. This was the same guy who, as foreign affairs minister, made some notable acts concerning the world of manga, such as announcing the first International Manga Awards, circulating Detective Conan manga pamphlets to explain his ministry's mission, and advising a former French presidential aspirant to "read more manga" after the criticisms that guy made about it.
