Chapter Two: I'll Catch Him

~*Miyuki*~

“Mark my words, I’ll be the one to catch Zero, and I’ll become the greatest reporter in the world.” I said.

“This guy is supposed to be impossible to track, just how are you going to do that?” He asked.

“I’m going to…hey, I’ll do it, I’ll make sure of that.” I pulled out my notebook I kept all my information I had on the thief in. “It’s said he wears all black, but one witness said he had light sandy hair, and another claimed it was dark red. He must wear disguises in order to conceal his identity. And the way he steals the most random things, there is no telling where he will strike next. But I’ll crack this dude, I’ll figure him out.” I said confidently.

“Yeah, you do that.” He said. I flicked his ear.

“You don’t believe me?”

“Ow, and it’s not that I don’t believe in you, it’s just I don’t want you to get your hopes up and then get disappointed just in case you can’t catch him.”

“He deserves to be caught, stealing is wrong, and so what if he hasn’t become violent yet? There is still a good chance that he might hurt someone if they try to get in his way, so I’ve been working out!” I flexed my arm. “See? I can take him down.” Kuori looked around and then grabbed my arm and pulled me down an empty hallway and pushed me up against the wall, holding my arms above my head. He pinned my legs against the wall and I struggled to get him to let go. “W-What are you doing Kuori, let me go!” I said.

“So if you can’t even get away from me, how are you going to get away from him if you had to?” He let me go and I rubbed my wrists. “Think about it, it might be a good idea for you to leave this kid alone and stayed out of this whole situation.”

“But If I don’t do something, who will?”

“Let authorities handle it.”

“Like they can get anything done with all the strikes and pay cuts happening. I just want someone to support me and understand that this is something I’m going to keep at until I get what I want. And I want to catch this thief! Why can’t you back me up?”

“How about I back you up in spirit?” He offered.

“No, back me up physically too.” I rejected.

“Miyuki, please don’t put me in this kind of situation.” He sighed closing his locker. “And what are you going to do if you catch him?” He asked as we walked towards our class.

“Well, umm…” He got me. I really didn’t know what I was going to do after I caught him. “I don’t know yet, but when I do I’ll think of something.”

“Ok, so lets put this into a situation here. I’ll be Zero and you be yourself.” Kuori started.

“Alright…” I answered looking at him strangely.

“Okay, I just stole…something.” He snatched my green book.

“Give that back!” I ordered and he put it above his head.

“I took something. Now I’m hiding from the cops. Where do I go, up the stairwell or out the window?” He questioned.

“Up the stairwell, but I don’t-“ He cut me off.

“Right, now I’m on the roof and I have nowhere to go. You’re hiding on the roof and catch me. You think you’ve done it. You finally caught the thief. BUT…he makes you lose your balance, then pins you against the wall.” He pushed me against the lockers again. “And he gets inches away from you.” He moved in closer. “So close, you can feel his breath on your cheek. He whispers something in your ear, then before you know it, he’s gone. And he got away.” Kuori said backing up. I snatched my book away from him.

“That won’t happen.” I commented, looking away from him. “Besides, I have to gather more info on him first.”

“What are you going to do, follow him home or something?” He asked.

“No, of course not. No one knows who he is do how on Earth would I be able to follow him home?”

“I don’t know, that’s why I asked.” He said as we walked into our class. We sat down and I looked at my green book. I touched my shoulder and ran my hand through my hair. What if, it really did happen? I felt a hand on my arm and I jumped. “Hey, I’m sorry I scared you, I just wanted you to know what could happen.” Kuori said. I glared.

“You didn’t scare me.” I said. But it didn’t help that I shivered right after I said that.

“Really?” He asked.

“Yes.”

“Yes I scared you?”

“No.” I answered quickly.

“I don’t believe you.”

“Well, believe it.” I looked back towards the front of the classroom.
