Chapter Fourty-Two: Ball Time

~*Miyuki*~

I laid there after Kuori left. Just thinking. ‘The way he looked at me sent shivers down my spine.’ I knew I liked him. It was inevitable. I always knew it would happen someday, but with zero now, everything was mixed up in my head and I didn’t know what to think anymore. Unfortunately, my mind refused to stop racing and I eventually ended up falling asleep somewhere around one.

“Mi, Mi!!” I heard a whisper. My eyes opened and I saw Kuori over me.

“W-What?” I rubbed my eyes. He smiled and His hair changed to red, then back to blond. Then his eyes kept flickering. “Zero?” I asked.

“No.” He changed back to Kuori.

“Y-You can’t be Zero…” I said.

“Yes I am.” He smiled.

“No…” I refused to believe it. That just couldn’t be true. He wouldn’t lie to me like that. Suddenly he leaned down and kissed me. I was shocked, but then my arms curled themselves around his neck and I gave in. He pulled me a bit closer and then pulled back. I opened my eyes and saw Zero. “Zero?” I asked again. I was so confused.

“Sorry. But I have to go.” He grinned and jumped out my window. I ran over and screamed at him.

“WHO ARE YOU?!” I yelled into the darkness, and there was no reply. I sat on my bed again, and sobbed.

Suddenly my eyes flew open and I sat up in bed, cold sweat running down my forehead. My phone was vibrating, and I opened it and saw a text from Taisuke.

Good Morning, you busy later? He asked

Sorry, winter ball is today and I’m going with Kenji. I sent.

Oh ok, well have fun, know if Kuori is going or not? We haven’t talked for a few days, how’s he doing? He asked.

He got in a fight with some troublemakers, but everything’s fine now. He’s probably not going since he’s still grounded. I replied.

Oh, alright, well send me a picture of the dress! I sighed and grabbed my blue fitted dress from the back of my closet door and put it on and took a picture in my mirror and sent it. Wow

What?
I asked.

You look amazing. I blushed.

Whatever

No, really Mi. You’re beautiful.

Thank you. I sent. I really felt awkward talking to Tai like this. I knew he liked me, and he was sweet, but, with Kuori, I don’t know…

Of course, and have fun tonight with Kenji

I will. And I shut my phone. Pretty much I was a bum the rest of the day, I didn’t even text Kuori, I just laid around and waited until I had to get ready to go. I curled my hair on top, but straightened underneath, and put my hair up into a twisted bun thing, it was actually very pretty with all the curled pieces mixed with the straight ones. I actually dug around in my dresser to find a special necklace, it was on a thin silver chain, two hearts hung loosely in the middle. Kuori had gotten it for me a few years ago for my birthday, and I hadn’t had the opportunity to wear it until now. I also had the charm bracelet on, even though it didn’t really go with my dress. “Mi!” I heard my mom yell from downstairs.

“Ok!” I answered back and grabbed my small heels and slipped them on. I started down the stairs and saw Kenji talking to my mom. I rolled my eyes and sighed. ‘Great, mom’s getting involved.’ Kenji looked up and blinked at me.

“Miyuki.” He said.

“Hey.” I gave a half wave.

“Picture!” I suddenly saw a flash.

“Mother!” I complained.

“One more!” And another picture.

“Leaving.” I grabbed Kenji’s wrist and started out the door.

“Have fun dear! He’s very lovely!” She yelled. I sighed again and once we got to the nice car that was parked out front of my house I stopped.

“This is the ride?” I asked.

“Yes.” He opened the door for me.

“Thank you.” I smiled and got in. He drove us to the school, which was decked out in winter décor. We went into the gym, and I pulled him out to the dance floor, and stayed there for maybe 4 songs, until a slow one came on, then I went and sat down. Kenji got us drinks, which I had gone in a few seconds. He stood up and took my trash to the garbage can, then came back over and held his hand out.

“Honor me with a dance?” He asked. I blinked but then nodded. Zero had taught me well, so I wasn’t too nervous. We twirled around a bit and he smiled. “You’re doing great.” He said.

“Thank you.” I smiled back.

“You look so gorgeous tonight.” He said. I instantly blushed. “I mean it.” He said.

“Thank you.” I repeated.

“Mi,” He leaned down and whispered in my ear. “Can I kiss you?” He asked me.

“Uh…” I stuttered and blushed.

“I understand if you say no.” He continued.

“It’s not that…” I said.

“It’s not?” He asked.

“No, I just wasn’t expecting it.” I said. I was actually very surprised.

“Oh, I see.” He said and laughed a little. “You’re blushing.”

“Oh stop it.” I muttered.

“It’s so cute.” He laughed again.

“If you want to, it’s ok.” I said. One little kiss wouldn’t hurt, it’s not like I was dating anyone anyway, and Kuori wasn’t here to see me. He leaned down and gently kissed me. ‘Wait a second…this feels almost like, how Taisuke kisses too.’ He pulled back and looked over at the gym doors. I looked too, and to my absolute horror, there stood Kuori. I put my hands to my mouth and he turned and ran. “Kuori…”

“Mi, come on, he can’t get far on that leg the way it is.” Kenji grabbed my hand and pulled before he let go and sprinted after Kuori.
