hehehe no prob X3I couldn't agree more. I really think that there's no type of rehabilitation that can change this kind of person. A person who was capable of doing such an horrible act will always have that kind of sick behavior with them. And just giving them a free place to stay for years will never change them.
My words exactly. Disgust. Hate. Revolting. I could find a lot more words, but I’ll stop there. I just felt so said when I heard the news, and I really feel sorry for the parents, her friends and anyone else who knew her. It seems such a waste of life; it’s really just tragic!
We don’t have the death penalty either. Canada is known for being too nice *sighs* But I think this case will spark up a really controversy about the subject, now that so many people nationally and world wide have been affected and revolted about the case.
Exactly, the parent’s pain will always be fresh in their hearts, and I can only sympathize what they are going through. Thank you very much for commenting! I really appreciate it~

You mention some really interesting points once again! It’s really a delicate subject; especially on the mercy aspect. I think that maybe, in some cases that perhaps a person can change when shown mercy, or love, because maybe that’s what the person what lacking to begin with and was having internal pain to the point where they believed that had to end other person’s life to deal with it, but then I think that there’s a lot of criminals out there, probably like this person, who knows that the justice system is too lenient and are almost…tempted to do such a horrific crime. I think he knows he’s going to get the life in prison and will probably apply for parole when he is able to. Then, he’s just a free man once again.
Yes, the fact about jails. I’ve learned that people can even continue their education while in jail, so it’s far from a hard working punishment we all once believed. I think that if this person was able to do something so horrendous without showing any remorse, or emotion for that matter, then we are really dealing with someone who looks lightly on the life he has taken. And that, is unforgiveable.
Thank you for your input! It’s really fascinating to read your in-depth thoughts! I really appreciate it~

Yeah, I posted it because I heard a lot of talk in the radio (and cause I live in the town the trial is going on, so I see those TV station trucks zooming past a lot too XD My family is disgusted by it especially my dad, he’s frustrated at the guy for not being able to take the blame for his actions. Everyone knows he did it (and there’s significant proof)! Why spend more time and money doing a trial for this guy?! Urgh!!! I really want to believe people change, and since I’m in the medical profession, I don’t believe in killing and such. But I can’t help it when I hear the details from the case and testimonies from witnesses; it just makes me really mad to the point where I think death is the best solution for both parties. Though I know that’s also wrong for me thinking that others have the right to put another person to death. *sighs* such a hard topic to discuss and have a concrete opinion on.
No problem! Anything to get otaku’s together and expressing their thoughts on a topic~ :D Thank you for commenting! XD Haha, that’s alright, I find I respond with a lot of text too!

Wow, you sure comment fast XD! I read this yesterday, but didn’t have time to respond until today. I agree with you. I really, really hate condemning people, and so to say ‘decide’ whether they die or not, but people who can do such horrendous, cruel actions to children just makes me disgusted. And on top of this, he’s denying the fact he even committed such a crime! I would have liked him to have a life sentence (so that he’d have to suffer), but I’ve learned that the jails these days aren’t like that anymore. You can even continue education in jail! It’s like an all paid vacation nowadays. >__> I really want to believe people can change, but when cases like these come out, my faith in them is close to zero.
Thanks so much for commenting! Your post was really interesting to read ^__^

It Discust me..:( I mean who would have the heart to Murder an 8 year old defenceless girl? What did she ever do to them? I am so for the death penalty!! People like that deserve the death penalty..The poor girl's Mom and dad are the ones that suffers the most..
I wish we had the death penalty here in my country..But since (Human rights) was in motion everyone here thinks their above the law they are untouchable..My heart goes out for that mom and dad..And even know it happened in 2009 it still feels like just yesterday for them...

This is a very delicate subject. And my view on it is also rather complex. In short, I agree with having a death penalty, but it should only be applied in certain cases and a lot of consideration before it is declared on an individual.
I would like to believe in the good in every person out there. Some situations, there should be the benefit of the doubt, and others are opportunities for us to learn to forgive. Is the individual likely to change if shown a little bit of mercy? (Like in Les Miserables, the punishment of society there and then seemed to make learning and becoming a better person impossible)
On the other hand, there should be a death penalty for severe cases. Maybe I think so because of all the superhero plots where the bad guys who are allowed to live always come back to cause more damage, but I do think there is a point where a person's death would be justified. Not to say that it's okay for people to go on a witch hunt, but if a person is a danger to society (as in mass murder, sick torture or other extremes) and will not change his/her ways, then they should be put to death.
As for the case brought up here, stories like that make me sick to think about. I cannot comprehend the ability of cruelty that involves such actions. Still, I think if he is guilty, death would be too nice of a punishment for him. If the girl was just killed and he's likely to go out and kill again, then for the safety of kids I might think death would be, but for defiling her body on top of that (with the gruesome nature of her death as well as being raped), death seems too...nice. A life sentence where he has to work hard seems more fitting in this case, but from what I hear about jails nowadays, working hard isn't necessarily what happens when you get locked away. I suppose breaking rocks or community service is 'cruel and unusual punishment' but that's a completely different topic of debate
Its funny you post this up, it was just yesterday that my family was discussing this case... Its so horrible and sickening.
I really don't know where I stand on this though. I agree with Baby D, but I do think people can change as well... Of course, people can go too far one way and never be able to reform themselves and i would not want criminals like this just walking around or going free after their sentence. But as for hating that person and wanting them to die... I don't know. I really hate what he did but I think along the lines that if I cheer for his death, I'm just like him in a way. But yeah, I think the death sentence is appropriate though, if the evidence is so strong against someone and they're proved to be guilty.
Thanks for another awesome post, Bonnie! Wow I didn't expect to write this much, I just started off without much opinion and now look~ xDDD
I really respect other people's opinion about saying no to the death penalty and before I was like that too but as I kept growing I have seen so many case of child murder/raping in cold-blood I really think in this kind of cases when the proof is undeniable this people do deserve death penalty. Why would I keep spending the peoples tax money for years (we are taking care of these people in prison -__-) money to fed, clothes and give a place for them to live so maybe later they will get free and they will be a new better citizen? I think when someone could do something like that, abusing, torturing, raping and killing a child are sick people and they will always be, so I think they do deserve the death penalty in that kind cases.
