Over the years I have been watching anime, I found not that some anime share commonalities with comic books and animated works of American origin in terms of concept types, but also that certain characters who appear in anime share commonlities with American-fiction characters in terms of special powers, personalities, and/or qualities.
Anyway, what would it be like if a number of characters from different anime who share commonalities with Marvel Universe characters banded together to form an Avengers-esque group of action heroes? Well, they'd be a group called "The Animengers", a fan-made concept I just thouht up, and here's the roster for it (note that Marvel Universe character names at at right):
- Ika Musume/Squid Girl: Equivalent to Namor The Sub-Mariner
- Tekkaman: Equivalent to Iron Man
- The Guyver: Equivalent to Venom
- Phantoma (or in Japanese-speaking terms, "Ogon Bat"): Equivalent to Ghost Rider
- Mew Ichigo (from "Tokyo Mew Mew"): Equivalent to Tigra
- Duke Togo (from "Golgo 13"): Equivalent to The Punisher
- Sonic the Hedgehog: Equivalent to Quicksilver
- Moonlight Mask (or in Japanese-speaking terms, "Gekko Kamen"): Equivalent to Moon Knight
- Monkey D. Luffy: Equivalent to Mr. Fantastic
- Alucard (from "Helsing"): Equivalent to Blade
