Darkness Desires Prologue

I look out to this city and all I see is emptiness. There may be bodies, but to me, there are no souls. It has been almost a hundred years since I have been in this place, a hundred years since my murder, a hundred years since I made the decision not to move on and to become what I am. What am I, you ask? I am an Archangel, a winged warrior of god that fights battles for humanity. Who would ever think that a man as I would become this? To tell you the truth, I ponder about that to this day.

Now I am guessing you are wondering who I am. Well all I can really tell you is what ‘They’ call me. I am Night, the Shade Archangel. In other words, I am the Angel of Darkness. Now why would an angel be of darkness?

It is simple.

Darkness is neither good nor evil. It is an element all its own. It is only considered evil in the eyes of a human; because you see, more demons use the element to do their bidding. Oh and you cannot forget, Humans fear what they do not understand and darkness is one thing they will never understand.

This city… this city has changed so much in a hundred years. Yet, it remains the same. I died protecting someone dear to me. I died protecting someone innocent. Once I became what I am, I could not see ‘her’ anymore. I could never touch ‘her’, hold ‘her’, or taste ‘her’ lips again. Oh how I have missed the touch of a woman. As an Archangel, pleasure is completely forbidden. In ‘Their’ eyes, desire is a sin. However, they do not know how it feels to have a warm gentle hand touch you and sooth you from all the pain in the world. To this day, I question my decision, but I never question my choice to die for ‘her’.
Now here I sit looking out to this lifeless city. My job is to protect people that do not deserve protection. However, as I think of it now, there are those that deserve to be protected, just as she did one hundred years ago.

I only wish to find them and just protect those souls from an eternity in hell’s wrath. However, right now, my only job is to find the ones that bare the powers of the four Calamities.
