Alors On Danse

A friend and fellow school publication staff introduced me to a couple of French goodies: the movie Amelie (which you MUST see- it's a wonderful movie that will leave you with good vibes and a smile plastered across your face!) and the musician Stromae.

She is ruining my life with French things

I feel ashamed how I've NEVER heard about Stromae before, EVER. He's popular in Europe and I guess in the U.S. as well. I tell you what. HE IS AMAZING. The most amazing thing about him is his music and the meaning he puts in the lyrics. You can hear the emotions in his songs and I just- SO MUCH RESPECT AND ADMIRATION FOR YOU, STROMAE.

Unless you understand French, you might need to see the English translations of his songs to understand what he's trying to convey. I tell you, you will be in awe.

My friend showed me Tous Les Memes first and told be beforehand that I might be interested in the concept of the music video. I really did. And I want to dance ballroom to this song ughhhh

Here's a translation and interpretation of the lyrics, if you'd like to understand the meaning even deeper.

Alors on Danse is an amazing upbeat song that actually talks about the problems we face ourselves to which we try to forget by having fun but then it's a never-ending cycle of life and its problems and trying to forget it through fun but it just won't stOP

And this ^ one is just dark. SO DARK. The animation is so good and reminds me of old!Disney (like the one in The Jungle Book and Aristocats, for example) and the video itself is such an eye-opener.

And here's Papaoutai. STROMAE IS JUST AMAZING IN THIS VIDEO. How does one seriously act as a mannequin so well!?? The song is also about fathers. It's so good.

So yeah. GO FORTH AND LISTEN TO GOOD MUSIC. You shan't regret!

Allons-y!
