(Note that this is the review for only the first series (season) of Clannad. The other season titled "After story" will get it's own review later on.)
Based on the visual novel, Clannad is an anime that follows a high school boy named Tomoya who is set in his own world. A world that will change soon. During his last high school days he meets many girls from which they all will become his friends and even take a place in his heart. But there is a special one... A one that will become part of his life at the end.
So much for the story. It is focused mainly as a harem anime, but with many romancing, heart breaking and even funny moments. It is a masterpiece that is hard to say even for words. At one moment you may be laughing. At the other crying... As anime like this that actually change something in you, deserve only the best and to say that they fully made the story well.
The animations of this anime is another thing what is good about it. They may sound repetitive and something that you will usually see, but what good about them is actually the smoothness in animation and the very well made coloring and details in characters. All the effects, from lighting ones, to just background are done separately meaning it that they are in high quality. The soundtrack is another thing. You may noticed that it sounds similar that you will hear in a visual novel, but it is just because it is. It is based of that, but that doesn't mean that it is a bad thing. It is actually a good one ranging as well from just funny and silly ones, to sad and emotional themes. Another thing that I should praise is the voice acting. It is done so well in this one. How they combined the expressions of characters and the tone by done, is just speechless.
At the end, I will say that this anime is a masterpiece. I myself wouldn't probably heard for it if I never came to this site. Now I know, and if you want to watch something that will stay as a beautiful and nice scar in your heart, then you shouldn't definitely miss this.
Animation and drawings: 9/10 - Special in it's own way with amazing backgrounds and details
OST and effects: 9/10 - From the music in the anime, to the actual voice acting, it is just good...
Story: 10/10 - I think that everyone will agree on this!
Entertainment: 9.5/10 - this anime may fall slow for some, but for most it will keep you with it until the end.
Overall: 10/10 - If I would give it a lower mark, it would be my last one!
