This is my personal blog, wherein I will post personal things for those who are interested in reading it. Thanks for stopping by ^_^

Time, and Space

Hello everyone ^_^

It's been a while, heh. I guess I'd like to say that I've been doing lots, but I'm not entirely sure that's accurate. Although saying that, I did finich my novel, Nazreal: The Lost City and sent it off to my first choice literary agent on Monday this week. I can't begin to tell you the huge amount of strict procedures that you have to go through to make your proposal package as professional as possible. Writing is really competitive, so it's important you take in all the advice you can find. I've no idea whether I'll be any success or not. I'm not expecting to get a positive response (as much as I am at least hoping for one, heh), and I won't hear for another three weeks yet. But it's progress all the same ^_^

You know, I really haven't watched all that much anime recently. I finally got round to viewing My Neighbour Totoro and Whisper Of The Heart, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone. They're both far more chareacter-based than plot or action-based, but just... lovely.

And I bought Appleseed: Ex Machina a while back; that was good. The story wasn't as good as the first CGI movie; the English dub changed Briareos' voice actor and he doesn't sound as strong a character as he did before. I liked his previous English voice. But the animation is incredible, and some of the art direction is fantastic. There are some amazing moments in it, so for Appleseed fans it's still great fun, if not quite with the depth of the first.

Also been watching a lot of Arby 'n the Chief and Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. Hilarious ^_____^

Personal-wise, well... not much has changed ^_^; My best friend (whom I started the production company with) has moved to Australia. It was going to be permanent but it looks like he's coming back in September, so that's left me incredibly ambivalent. I've been doing all sorts of acting stuff: principally I'm Chief Weasel in a big production of Toad of Toad Hall in the Rolls-Royce factory in August, and I can't wait for that ^_^

I meant to log back in a while ago to comment on one of James' posts but I forgot >.>; It's felt a little odd without a little theOtaku to indulge in, heh.

ZA WARUDO!

Thank you all ^_^ I wanted to type a reply to everyone individually, but that would have left me with five replies in a row of 'Thank you'; I hope you don't mind me being a little less personal. But I do really mean it. Thanks. I've ...

Nazreal: The Lost City

I finished the first draft today. 91,500 words!

Time to get emotional and party, methinks.

Frosted Glass

How well do you fit in with the people around you? For some reason I've always felt somewhat out of place. I tend to sit on the borders of a lot of different groups but don't sit comfortably in the middle of any of them. I wonder if this is...

I'm awaking in the New World

If anyone gets that reference I love you forever :p

Anyway, considering this nifty integration with theO, I've decided to start my personal blog here. I'll still be keeping MyOtaku, though, to keep up with my friends' updates there and to have somewhere to put the Soundtrack review snippets for people to listen to. So that's nice ^_^

Anyway, I've been keeping busy. I've another play coming up at the Chichester Festival Theatre that I'm really looking forward to. That comes round in August but preparation's already beginning for it. It sounds really exciting ^_^

I have a... I won't say 'job', but a source of income. I've started being a home education tutor for drama. I'm only doing one family at the moment because I haven't got that much time outside of my other commitments, but it's working out really nicely. They're a lovely family and the kids seem to take everything in well. I've never done anything like this on such a personal basis though, so I find myself running short of ideas for activities pretty quickly. What I want to do is develop their imagination and improvisation skills, and hopefully increase their confidence. Eventually we'll put together a big film project, going through all the necessary stages, from writing through storyboarding to filming, editing and putting onto DVD. So it's a nice, long-term thing, I should hope.

My writing's been going well, although I've not added anything to it in about a week or so. I'm only two chapters and an epilogue away from finishing the first draft. I'm up to near enough 81,000 words now. I want to get it finished within the next four weeks, because...

...Dan moves to Australia on April 14th. It's going to be bizarre not having him here, as he's lived in the house for the last two and a bit years, in the room just next to this one. In some ways it'll be easier for me in terms of being able to sit down and concentrate, but I know I'm going to miss him a lot. I hope he does okay out there.

On theOtaku news, I'm planning another few soundtrack reviews to put up. Specifically: Princess Mononoke, Escaflowne: The Movie and The Black Mages III when that arrives. It's released today and the Japanese postal service is incredibly efficient :p

I'll also be uploading OtakuBoards: Enter The Net sometime, when I can find time to put it in the right format. It's a pity I can't upload them one chapter at a time, as they won't be eligible for nomination. Hmm...

Do you think it's worth putting up the first chapter of my book for feedback? I really really want to show it to everyone. I've had some feedback from people I've given it to in person but while they've said they really enjoyed it, not all of them gave back the feedback forms I attached. Which is a little annoying :p I'm just a little worried about copyright and stuff. I'll give it some more thought.

Hope all is well. I'll be back soon. Especially as I've vowed not to play on Smash Bros Brawl until I've finished my book, and my friend has just told me he's importing it to arrive next weekend... I might be very busy >.>;
