Thank you for the suggestions! (The student discount is how I was able to get my current copy of the Creative Suite.) I had no idea you could set a new PC to an older OS!
(Another thought is that some companies give you discounts if you use a student email address to buy/subscribe to it - I don't think they even check to see if the email is still a current student either - Might not work for Adobe but if you ever need to buy or update something there is no harm in checking and stuff ;))
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
You can buy a new laptop that has windows 10 and it is possible to reset it too a Windows 7. I saw it when I was making a back up of mine, so it's all possible :D Good luck :) (Also good luck if you ever do go freelance :))

And, like you said, they pretty much force you when they stop supporting security updates and such.
I use Photoshop for my job on occasion (and depending on if I ever go freelance, I will want the suite for work in the future) and for everything digital art. It's a little bit easier for me to do certain things in PS than in SAI. Right now, I'm looking for an older machine that runs the OS that CS5 needs. Or to have a new machine retrofitted with Windows 7. ^^;
Thank you, and the like to you with your drawing tablet!
I know of people who have pirated versions - although to me even though companies are greedy, you shouldn't just steal from them >.>;
How important are the Adobe programs to you? Because you could find ways around it, I have paint tool sai and clip studio paint that both in total cost about £50 (Sai -£40, Clip was about £10 and they have sales often) and many other things I found for free. (maybe if enough people did this it would force Adobe to lower their prices and allow for one off payments XD) I wish you the best with getting your new laptop and your Adobe programs and that it doesn't eat a lot of your money :)

We hear sense!
Planned obsoletion is the worst. I agree, it punishes people who don't have the means to keep upgrading all the time.
I'm facing a similar quandary. I'm considering a laptop because the PC is the family computer, but my Adobe programs won't work on the new OSs, and the new Adobe suites are all subscription -- I don't want to be stuck paying every month!
