We're out, but what did they do?

-Takumi-

I watched them take Mai out of the room.

“NO…no…please…” I chocked as the door slammed shut and I was left there chained to the wall.

I couldn’t do anything. I could break the chains. I was useless. I couldn’t get out of here and save her. I clenched my hands into fists and tried to hold back my tears.

‘Are you really going to give up that easily?’ I heard the other me in my head.

“I…I don’t want to…” I said out loud looked down at the floor.

‘Then don’t give up.’ He said.

“But…what am I supposed to do I can’t get out of this?” I asked.

‘If you allow me to help we can work together to get out of this and save Mai.’

I looked at the door and clenched my fists. “Let’s do it.” I muttered and started forcing the chains to be taught.

“Trying to escape Takumi?” I looked up to see one of the younger scientists walk in. He had dark brown hair and matching eyes.

“How can I when I’m chained to the wall and I can’t break the chains.” I answered with a bit of hatred in my voice.

“Touchy today. Aren’t we?” He said and pushed a button that pulled the chains back into the wall squishing my wings against my back and the wall. It was shooting pains up and down my back because I didn’t have time to fold them in before hand with the chain constricting me to do so.

“What are you planning to do?” I asked trying not to show the pain on my face.

“I was told I had to give you some shots.” He answered setting the tray he was carrying down on a small table and wheeling it over to where I was on the back wall. He unbuttoned my shirt and then cleaned a small area that was next to my hip with an alcohol wipe then grabbed the first of five needles that I’m guessing were for me.

I took a sharp breath in when he injected me with whatever he was doing. “What are you injecting me with?” I asked as he prepared the next spot for the second injection.

“I believe they are supposed to be something like growth formulas or something like that.” He answered.

My eye twitched, “What you calling me short or something?”

“Since you last got here and we took your measurements you only grew an inch. But I don’t think that is the point of these injections. I believe they are meant to speed up the growth of your powers.” He explained sticking me with the fourth needle.

‘One more. One more and this guy leaves and we can get out of here and find Mai.’
I thought.

“My only power is my wings and that’s it.” I mentioned to him.

“You never know. You may develop more powers then that.” He answered finishing with the injection.

He took the try and walked over to the door and hit the button that released me from the shackles and I fell to the floor. “If you want to save your girlfriend I would suggest you hurry before your shots kick in.” He mentioned walking out of the room and leaving the door open for me.

I slowly got up. Hitting the floor didn’t really help much with landing on my torso considering he spread the shots around.

‘Come on we don’t have much time. Let’s get going.’
The other me said I could feel him trying to help to push me along.

When I got to my feet I ran out the door as fast as I could and listened to where the gun shots were coming from and when I got there I saw that they were shooting at Mai. But it looked like she couldn’t take much more. I hit the open button and raced into the room. The last bullet shattered her barrier and looked like it grazed her arm.

I ran over to her and covered us in a wall of feathers so that no one could see us ad I picked her up and ran out of the room and down the hall.

“Takumi…” I heard her say weakly.

“It’s alright I’m going to get you out of here.” I smiled down at her. When we got outside we figured out we were on the second floor because I found a balcony. I felt her wrap her arms around my neck and I took off to the sky. I believe that she must have used her ability to make both of us invisible because I didn’t hear anyone coming after us.

“What took you so long?” Mai laughed a little.

“Sorry I was a little caught up.” I smiled at her and kissed her.

“Try not to make it a habit.” She mentioned hugging me.

“I’ll try not to.” I said and my vision started getting blurry and my entire body was tingling.

“Are you alright?” Mai asked me.

“No…”I answered and started falling from the sky. I made sure that I was the one that was hitting the trees as we fell and I hit the ground hard. I know I did but I couldn’t feel anything.

“Takumi…Takumi…” I heard Mai.

I saw her get up and start shaking me. Then everything came rushing back and pain just surged through my body. I couldn’t tell if it was from falling or from the shots the guy gave me but it felt like my pants were getting tighter on me in every which way and was making it very uncomfortable. Just what was going on with me? I couldn’t even tell Mai that I was alright.
