Baba Yaga could hear the young boy outside, and sent her cat, Renaldo to greet Peter.
Renaldo was an old black cat, that did the dirty work of the Witch. Renaldo was blind in one eye, and had a bad ear.
"Welcome! Welcome!" Renaldo said to the scared boy. "Do not fear, I am Renaldo, and I will help you, just come into the cottage with me."
Peter was to scared to think, and nodded and followed, but right as he got in, Baba Yaga grabbed him and put him in a cage.
"Tee Hee!" She screeched, and her matted and tangled white hair shook grossly. "I catch you, and the pup is left, Baba Yaga will have a stew tonight!"
She left, and Renaldo watched Peter, and Peter kept thinking of ways to escape. And then it came to him that Renaldo was blind and deaf on one side.
"Renaldo!" Peter whimpered.
"Hmm?" Renaldo sighed.
"A rat!" Peter pointed to a corner.
Renaldo was also a rat hunter, and ran to the corner and became stuck, with half of his side sticking out, and that was his blind and deaf side.
So Peter shook back and forth in the cage and then soon crashed to the floor, while Renaldo had no idea.
He ran out the door, and the whole time he could hear someone following him!
"Chicken Feet, Chicken Feet!" The animals jeered left and right. "Baba Yaga rides on Chicken Feet, and will catch you!"
It was true, a couple of yards behind, there were two chicken feet running after him. Peter could now see the stream, and he ran for dear life.
Finally as he jumped, he could feel the Chicken Feet grab him by the ankles once he jumped, and he fell in the creek.
He screamed in agony, but kept pushing forward, and finally as he reached the other side, the Chicken Feet retreated, and Peter was free, but Chop was never seen again.
