I Challenge You!

Yeah, I created a challenge asking you to draw what you are dressing up as for Halloween: CLICKY

You should join =)

tumblr and Some Goals

Yeah, I've had one for a while, but I've been steadily been using it more, mainly to post comics and art that...I already post here. But if you have one of those, drop by, maybe subscribe and I'll do the same to you =)

So, I've decided to do one drawing a day until Christmas. So far, it's working out. I think after a week or two it'll become automatic. I used to be able to draw every day without thinking but it's getting harder and harder to focus and/or be creative. So, to speed up my drawing time and to overall get better I've been just using my friends' pictures as references to convert into manga form. So far it's been working, and I had a little bit of creativity in my newest upload of Calvin and his cat/kitten, Henrik. And sometimes I'm too lazy to draw out G33K!! Offline, so I've just been noting them in my sketchbook to draw later...I'll get around to it eventually, lol.

I'm still waiting on the new Wacom tablet that my dad promised me before this semester started. Gui was able to get Manga Studio on my computer, so I really really want to use it so I can start making G33K!! Until then, I'll brush up on my drawing skills.

Well, those are the updates. Bye bye!

Tagged and a Winner

So I won my first challenge, The Protagonist! I'm also long overdue for a tagging response from Sparklingwave:

1. You must post these rules.
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves in their journal.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create eleven new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have tagged him/her.
6. No tag backs.
7. No stuff in the tagging section about "you are tagged if you are reading this." You legitimately (AKA, really, truly, with all honesty) have to tag 11 people.

Her questions:
1.What is your favorite nickname?
-It's KaidaFaye, ain't it? People at school called me "Asian" or "The Asian" or "Little Asian"...I'm only half.

2.Do you prefer coffee or tea, and why?
-I like both of them the same, but I'm more of a smoothie person myself.

3.Do you have an original character (o.c)? Do they represent you in any way?
-It's Jade/KaidaFaye from my comic. She is essentially me but she has the more interesting life and is more flexible. I wish I was more flexible.

4.What is one irrational fear that you posses?
-When I was little, my brother did something apparently that made me scared shitless of vacuum cleaners. Nobody wants to tell me and I don't remember what since fears become irrational when the memory of why you're scared in the first placed is blocked out of your memory. I'm turning 19 in December and I still cry and freak out when a vacuum cleaner turns on =(

5.If you had to become a vagabond what three items would you take with you?
-Pencil, Swiss Army Knife, and a really cool jacket/trench coat.

6.What is your favorite piece of literature?
-Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. And suck it up, those people that are in love with the book because of the movies and the suggestive drug use: I've carried my little volume from Barnes&Noble around since I was 10.

7.What would you like to do for the rest of your life (workwise)?
-Draw comics!! Or make video game designs, I'm gonna do something in art.

8.How much time do you spend outside each day?
-I try not to spend more than 10minutes in daylight. I'm Filipino, so I tan easily and I'm trying really hard to get pale. My outside activity usually involves walking from one end of campus to the other and then heading to the library in the middle of campus.

9.If you could change the world in anyway, how would you and why?
-War would be fought through hack-proof MMORPGs so that soldiers don't suffer in the real world.

10.What is your favorite word? (it can be anything, even a non-official one)
-Cripes. I say it a lot. I'm also fond of Tomfoolery.

11.How do you (meaning the spelling YOU use most OFTEN) spell the word Donut? DONUT or DOUGHNUT?
-When I'm talking about a doughnut from Dunkin Donuts, I use "donut". Otherwise, it's "doughnut".

I tag...FujinKeima, Japan, imouto chan, meow2puchiko, mewnicole, anime gecko, shizuka101, ponyochan, and crow666. I'd tag Minto and CalWoof too, but they don't even really visit theOtaku anymore =/

My questions are:
1.Favourite food?
2.Childhood hero?
3.What got you into anime/manga?
4.Do you draw?
5.Can you cook?
6.What do you want to be when you grow up? (Seriously)
7.Can you drive yet? Because I can't.
8.Can you ride a bike and when did you learn? Because I can't do that either...
9.Besides Japanese, what language do you wish you could speak?
10.Are you a math or language/English person?
11.What would your super power be? (Not want, WOULD. What fits you best?)

Enjoy! Sorry if my questions are boring, I'm not good at this kinda stuff...

I posted this in the dA forum too. Advice?

I just started college and am determined to be in the graphic design field. I am working on a game with my boyfriend who is the programmer of the game(I do the graphics). Since we're partners in this, I'm not paid until the project is done and sells. I'm fine with this as it'll be something to add to a portfolio when I look for other jobs.

Which I did. I applied for a character designing job for a small company overseas--it'll be mostly computer and paypal-paid. I submitted samples of the work I'm doing for the other game. The response was polite praise and questions about how I should be paid. This is my first application to a job of this kind. I've read online of people charging $15-35 per hour starting out. I don't know if that seems too much to charge, but my brother who does 3D character commissions suggested I charge $25 per hour. Is it just me, or is that a bit much?

Besides payment advice, if you have any advice on this career please share your wisdom! =)

Making an iPhone game =)

So, last Summer my boyfriend and I started planning a game for the iPhone--he'd do the programming and I'd do the graphics(when the game's finished I can use it in my portfolio and resume!). It should be done and out by Christmas, so keep an eye out for it!!

On another note, working on my website/online portfolio design again. It's a crappy draft but the main idea is there. When I do the final design I'll digitally draw it so that it still has that hand-drawn quality but looks more professional. What do you think so far?

Also, look forward to more G33K!! Offline--strange funny things keep happening and I have a new, bigger doodlebook* =D (*sketchbook)
