Re-joining the unemployed masses

The title says it all, really. Today, the production manager at the chocolate factory I've been at the past few weeks pulled me aside 15 minutes before going-home time and said that I just don't quite fit in with any parts of their production line. I think I got pretty darn good at some parts, but I've been in this situation enough to know that arguing would've been a waste of time. So I just said 'okay'. At least I've gotten 3 weeks' money and some experience out of it. Maybe later tonight I'll feel bad.

So anyway, on Monday I'll just call up the temp place that has my info and have them dig some stuff up for me like how I got that job cleaning bathrooms at the county fair a month ago. It's not like I'm utterly back on the streets and broke like I have been before when I've lost a job. And this weekend, I've got some church stuff to take my mind off things. Maybe now I'll have a little more time to catch up on re-watching some of my anime collection; I've had some time for that these past few weeks, but maybe just not much heart.

Working

As the title says, I am still working at my local chocolate factory; they even gave me some scrubs to wear to work today so maybe they mean to keep me at least through the end of the season. Today was my second day 'dumping' chocolate-dipped cookies out of molds. There's a trick to doing it so you don't wear out your hands and of course you have to be quick to keep up with the cookies going on the belt to be wrapped. I'm quite good at that; wish I were getting as fast about fitting box lids with the little paperstrips because I do that too and I feel bad when my partner has to stop sometimes and then whips through a stack and a half in the time it takes me to do one.

Had Labor Day off so I walked down the the beach near my house; about half and hour there and another back. Well, not counting the rest breaks I had to take on the way back because it was kinda uphill partway and I felt like I was gonna die. It got better when I drank the rest of the juice I'd brought with me and saw a couple squirrels in some trees. There's lots of trees around in my area; it'd actually be a cool place if someone cosplaying as a wood elf or something wanted to do a photoshoot. Anyway, during late spring, summer, and maybe fall, you see squirrels and rabbits from time to time, maybe deer in the evenings. I used to get a raccoon that'd come right onto my back patio and I'd feed it dog treats, but of course once I was out of treats it stopped coming around. I could've gotten in a lot of trouble for feeding it anyway. The condo area where I live doesn't even let people hang birdfeeders on account of they don't want people inadvertently feeding the squirrels.

Anime-wise, I've been reading the volumes of Bakuman that I'm borrowing from my local library. 'FaceOff' is on SyFy channel tonight so I'll definitely be catching that.

All Fall Down

So today at work, I dropped a bunch of chocolate box bases. Then, before leaving for my first break, I was told that I might not make it past the end of this week which is the probationary period. Later on in the afternoon, I dropped a box of bags of chocolate coins. They were already wrapped and everything, but the girl that's been showing me how to do stuff had to go back later, open the bags that fell on the floor, and re-bag the coins (they were okay to use, just not the little bags themselves.) Great day, huh? So unless God really comes through for me, it might be back to temp jobs from the company I went through to get my stint a couple weeks ago at the fair. Not that that'd be bad, but it'd be nice if I could be getting my stuff together more at my age. Maybe to cheer myself up I just need to draw some fanart or watch something good on TV; low anime levels in my blood could be messing with my abilities. Well, I did watch Adult Swim on early Sunday morning, but I need something outside of that.

Work update

So I survived the last few days at my local county fair cleaning bathrooms; it was really hot on Thursday and Friday, but cooled down nicely on Saturday. And hey, I get a paycheck out of it. Today, I started my more permanent job (I hope) at a local chocolate factory. Mainly what I did was put the plastic molds on trays and take trays of newly molded chocolates off the line and put them on trays to cool and all. And I did some cookie-ing, where you put the ring-shaped sugar cookie in a round mold that already has a bit of chocolate. It seems like a pretty good job so far; I mean, it's not like I've had many other offers come my way. The hardest part (at least it seemed so since this is the first day) was cleaning the heads which are the kind of tray things in the chocolate machines that drip enough chocolate into each mold. They get heavy when full and quite slippery to have to hold onto and scrape off, then carry over to the sink to rinse off.

Sunday morning I watched Adult Swim as usual. I'm very pleased that they're running Samurai 7 because I've never gotten to see all of that series and what I did see looked good. And they're re-running Eureka Seven; yahoo! Haven't actually seen that series since the last time it was on AS and I would like to think that they'll run it, then the sequel. And finally, thank the Lord they're finally getting back to the actual storyline in Bleach. Finally! I mean, those filler arcs ran for-pretty-near-ever.

And the final cool thing in my life is that my younger sister and her husband now have a new baby; they've been waiting to adopt for a while and their little boy was born Friday afternoon. He is incredibly adorable; I got to go down to their house on Sunday afternoon and hold him. He was pretty much asleep the whole time, but he is just too cute and I can't wait to cuddle him and play with him and teach him stuff as he grows up. Between my sister and me, maybe we can train him up to be an anime fan. I didn't ask about that, but we'd just have to get past my brother-in-law.

Working Girl

So since Monday I've finally been back to work cleaning some of the bathrooms at my local county fair up here in WA. I'll tell you now that it does not rain up here as much as people have been led to believe; in fact, it has been very hot the past two weeks. Monday, I got home feeling sick because I didn't drink as much as I should have. Tuesday and Wednesday I did a little better. And on Wednesday I went to the Breast Cancer Awareness booth and bought two wonderful neckerchiefs that you soak in water and gel packs sewn inside swell up. Then you stick them in the freezer and you can tie them around your neck and it feels sooooo niiiice. I alternated wearing both of them today and it was amazing; I felt so much better and even my shift seemed to go by faster. Still have Friday and Saturday to go and supposedly they'll be even hotter and busier. Also today was good because the guy that's my partner and does the mens' bathrooms while I do the womens' bought me proffertjes, which are the Dutch version of fried doughnut holes served with powdered sugar and a bit of whipped cream to dip them in, so yummy. Very kind of him; he's quite a cool guy. And every day so far he's bought something tie-dyed; he likes tie-dye.

Haven't been watching much anime; I'm almost too tired when I get home. And next week I start a regular job at a chocolate factory which is highly unlikely to be run or owned by a whimiscal candymaker. I am not in the least like an OompaLoompa.
