I'm Alive, I Promise

Since it's almost been two months since I've actually updated y'all on my life, and since spring break is the perfect time to make a new post, it's probably about time that I should do that.

Well, an update on my broken ankle - I'm in the home stretch. I still can't walk yet (not for another week and a half), but I'll certainly be walking on it by the time the month is out, so I'm pretty excited for that.

In case you weren't able to tell, once I was rejected by that completely other guy, I bounced right back to Berry in my crush. Things between us haven't exactly reached a romantic stage, but we've been good friends and he's been great at helping me get around, giving me rides and such. It's fun talking with him and I'm glad we can be friends - even if he is graduating in a couple months.

Well, in anime-related news, I almost did something that I've never done before - burn out on anime. Well, at the beginning of this week, after watching an average of about 8 episodes a day for a few days, when I came back home (to my parent's house), I almost stopped watching altogether. I've still managed to watch about an episode a day, it's just not at that crazy breakneck pace I was doing before. Now I've been spending most of my time reading manga, making wallpapers, and playing Papers, Please (which is a really cool video game, y'all should play it). I think my almost-burn-out is close to being over, so I should start watching more anime soon... just not at that crazy pace like before.

And lastly, on theO I've reached a couple of huge milestones. The first one being that I've finally reached 100+ subscribers (I teetered between 99 and 100 for a while, but it seems like I've finally stabilized), and this world, the one you're looking at right now, has reached 10,000+ views. In order to celebrate, well, I'll do a few things. First off, I'll hold a livestream sometime soon (probably not this weekend, maybe the next, I may have to hold it on a weekday). Second, another Q&A (you can post your questions here, I'll probably make another post announcing the Q&A, and you can post them there, too), and I'll let you guys vote on which anime I review next (once again, you can comment here, or in the announcement post). You may vote for up to two, and the top two will ultimately be chosen to be reviewed. The anime that are up for voting are:

  • Nanatsu no Taizai/Seven Deadly Sins
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency)
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Stardust Crusaders)
  • Durarara!!
  • Space Brothers/Uchuu Kyoudai
  • Death Parade
  • Fate/Zero
  • Fate/Stay Night: UBW
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion + End of Evangelion
  • Haikyuu!!
  • One Punch Man
  • Kuroshitsuji II + Book of Circus
  • Tokyo Ghoul Root A
  • Attack on Titan/Shinjeki no Kyojin
  • Hellsing (2001 series)
  • Trigun

Thank you guys so much for all the support and the views and such! You guys are amazing!

Life Sometimes Really Sucks

Well, I basically disappeared for a week. Why? Well, last Thursday I broke my ankle in three places. I wish I had a cool story to go with this, but all I got is that I slipped on some snow-slush stuff, landed on it, and viola. That's what I got. So I have to keep off of it for the next 8-10 weeks, and it's going to be a pain in the butt until then. Especially because I haven't ever broken a bone before, so this is the first time I've ever experienced something like this. Oh, joy.

Oh, and on top of that, on Tuesday I got rejected. Yup. The story goes that I had a really good guy friend that I had made up here in college, and so when I broke my ankle, he was the one who really took care of me that first day. He's been so sweet, and he's a pretty friendly and funny guy, so I decided to see how it would work out if we were in a relationship, and hence why I asked him. He said that we should "just stay friends". At least that's basically where it's been left at. We still talk and call on the phone and stuff, but I guess there's not going to be a relationship.

But, I've still managed to stay in (mostly) good spirits. I have some really good friends up here, making me laugh and giving me rides and stuff. Religion has also been a huge part of my managing good spirits, as I believe that I will come out of this a better person, and that there's a reason for it, and I know that things will eventually all work out.

Sorry if that was a little incohesive, I just kinda threw words at the screen this time. Well, I'm hungry. I'm going to get lunch.

2015, Meet 2016

Well, I guess New Years' is the time to look back for a year, and look ahead to the future. So I'm going to discuss my thoughts on this past year, and my thoughts on this upcoming year.

2015

I think one of biggest things in this past year is that I finally became a pretty active anime watcher, as well as started on (and finishing) a bunch of manga, and getting merch. I'm kind of glad, as I've always wanted to be an active anime watcher, but I was kinda slow before now.

The biggest event of the year, and one of the biggest ones in the past few years, is that I started college. I met a ton of people, made a lot of friends (including a few, really close ones through anime club), rediscovered what it's like to have crushes on different people (Berry, as well as a baby one on a person I'm going to call... Alien). At the same time, I've had to face myself and ask "What do I really want out of life?", and honestly, I'm still trying to figure that one out. I think all I have figured out are my majors...

Speaking of, I picked up a few new interests this past year. I realized my love of history (and hence added it to English as a major). I also picked up language learning (having worked at least a little bit on Japanese, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, French, and Turkish, with Japanese and Swedish being my best ones). I also finally got into painting (mostly watercolor).

However, I've started to see the beginning of the decay of one of my old hobbies, that one being band. I've been an active member of concert band for 6 years and of marching band for 5 (2 years just doing parades, 3 doing parades and shows). However, I can't put that same sort of dedication during my college, so I'll have to put it on the back burner, demote it to a casual hobby instead of a major part of my life, and I've been trying to learn how to deal with that.

Overall, this past year, the best way I can describe it is... growing pains. I've grown a lot as I've graduated from high school and started college, gaining new friends, discovering new hobbies, and trying to really find myself. However, it's been hard trying to translate my high school self into a college self, and letting go of the things that made high school some of the best years of my life. But in the new year...

2016

I have the feeling that in 2016 I'll have a lot of self-discovery as most of my anime club friends graduate from college and as the rest of my high school friends leave on LDS missions, leaving me almost alone (luckily I have one really close friend in college who isn't graduating yet). I'm going to have to learn to define myself in terms of me, and not in terms of who I hang out with or who I have a crush on.

I might have to learn to be responsible, as there is a surprisingly high chance I'll be Anime Club President next school year (as there is a shortage of regulars who aren't graduating).

But, who knows, the future is a mystery after all (last year I wouldn't have guessed that I'd want to double major in History along with the English).

But I do have a few goals set for myself:

  • By the end of the year, be able to say you have watched more anime than I have bones in my body (according to MyAnimeList)
  • Review an anime at least once every two weeks (I really need to write more reviews)
  • Don't fail any of my classes (repeating a class would suck)
  • Be nicer (I kinda griped to my roommates a couple times this past semester)
  • Get a passport/visa (I really need these, especially if I'm going to do a summer semester abroad)

And those are mostly my goals...

Happy New Years', and I hope your guys' 2016 is wonderful. ^^

Ninja is No More

...Or rather, the crush on him is no more. You see, the guy I mentioned in my last update, Berry, has been a whole lot... accessible? (Sure, I'll use that word) than Ninja. I have to practically do backflips to be able to hang out with Ninja, but doing the same with Berry is just a couple texts away.

...Of course, this is a recent development. Who knows what will end up happening in the next few weeks.

Other than that, school has been pretty fun, though it can be stressful at times (especially here at the end of the semester, when all the big projects are due). To be honest, I'm excited for winter break.

But yeah. I know that's not much of an update, but not much has been going on (other than that).
