When people assume that anything coming from Japan is going to be quality.
Just read the comments over there to get my meaning. Honestly, Japan isn't the magical land of nice things where nothing bad can ever exist. Naruto itself is a great example of this. Nothing makes sense anymore and the parts that try to be serious come off as preachy and hypocritical.
Sure, America releases some terrible movies, games and shows. But it still makes good stuff, too. How I Met Your Mother, anyone? Iron Man? Pre-2003 Disney movies (Disney is inspiration for a lot of anime, by the way.) This is all excellent stuff, but it's being ignored because everyone's already made up their minds that America only produces Twilight and Hannah Montana these days. What the crap.
As for Japan, there's a simple thing to keep in mind here. Most of the stuff that sucks never makes it here because it flops in its country of origin and is less likely to cross the pond. Therefore, you never hear about it. Yozakura Quartet, for example. It's a show about superheroes. It's thirteen episodes long and essentially nothing happens until at least halfway through. Have you ever heard of it? Probably not. Because it was unsuccessful in Japan and not worth marketing here. A bad show made in Japan. Shocker.
Bottom line, bad things can come out of anywhere just as well as good things. You want proof that America can still provide some awesome entertainment? Go see UP. Want proof that Japan's potential to suck has always been equal to the US's? Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water has a particularly awful filler arc.
Now stop saying that Japan is the Capital of Awesome. Seriously.
