Two Ticks Till Dawn: Her story

Description: This could be defined as a modern version of The Gift of Magi, but it's not entirely the same. At the end, can you tell what Timmy got her girlfriend? Answer and question at bottom.

Two Ticks Till Dawn: Her story

This year, I finally have a boyfriend to give presents to on the eve of Christmas. It’s everything a girl wants on Christmas Eve. Have you ever heard someone say that they would never give their boyfriend something for Christmas because it’s the “male’s job” to do that? You would see, at least, one thousand girls near Christmas hunting for the right present before it’s too late. Many of these presents are costly too. That’s why I have worked two jobs year round for this fated day. That golden pocket watch chain is just waiting to get into my boyfriends hands. It’s the pair to his watch that his grandfather gave him. Timmy will just love me for thinking about what he already has in accordance to what he’ll get!
I’ve decided to purchase Timmy’s gift the dawn before Christmas Eve. This will give me enough time to get the money, get his present and wrap it. Timmy and I have already decided to meet right when the clock tower strokes twelve on Christmas Eve. We’ll then exchange presents under the town’s Christmas tree. After snuggling under the tree, we will then go dine in the finest, affordable, restaurant in town. After we finish our meal, we will go to Timmy’s house to watch romance movies and eat his mother’s finest cake. While walking me home, on the stroke of midnight near the town’s tallest clock tower, we will kiss under the moon lit mistletoe. I will make sure that my Christmas fairytale becomes reality!
I had just finished working at the Brownstone’s Bread store. With this money, I’ll finally get Timmy’s fated gift. On my way to Carrie’s Jewelers, I found this adorable little puppy. How could I resist to not playing with the cute thing? The pup was a golden brown with as much energy as the sun itself! With my money in hand, I started to comb the puppy’s short hair with the softest touch of my hand. I accidently got to close to the abandoned pup’s face and off went his energy! He had bitten my hand! I was helping him and combing his fur ever so softly and then he bites me! The only real problem was that the money, that I had let go of because of the shock, had blown away! Chasing the money like the town’s fool had caught everyone’s attention, but I didn’t care. The money that was supposed to make my fairytale come true had blown away because of that rotten puppy! What was I to do?
Walking along the snow drenched sidewalk, I found myself at Carrie’s Jewelers. Happy couples enjoying their Christmas to come were walking in and out of the jewelry store without a care in the world. It sickened me how I was helping an innocent creature and I had gotten rotten luck because of it. Aside from the fact of my hand bleeding from the bite, I had only two hours to get the wonderful gift for my boyfriend. I just need to calm down and go inside the Jewelry store to figure something out. Maybe the owner would be so kind enough to let me get the chain now and pay later.
“No, I will not have it in my store.”
“But can’t you miss? I’m begging you, please just this once. It’s almost Christmas for heaven’s sake.”
“It is just not allowed. I need something now to give you something in return. Money would be the reluctant case for now.”
Looking down and lowering my head in sorrow, I noticed my necklace that Grandmother gave me. It was the only one of its kind. Its beautiful shine reflected of the renowned golden texture hinting to me that using this necklace might give me the chance to show my loved one a beautiful Christmas. I know it’s crazy to sell such an antique for a present for one date, but I truly love him. I would sell the world for Timmy. So, I swear to this necklace about to be sold away that I will forever love Timmy.
Its five minutes till the clock strikes twelve and the day turns to Christmas Eve. I have yet made it to the clock tower where I am to meet my beloved. I will not regret the decision to give love to Timmy. I will never regret giving something away to get my love in return. Now I know that I must run into my loved one’s arms waiting for the fated mistletoe to appear to share a lovely kiss. Now I am not running to the place of rendezvous but to my beloved one’s arms. I am running to Timmy.
He’s not here. It has past been the time of the clock tower’s twelfth stroke. It has past been the time of going under the town’s Christmas tree. It has past been the time of watching movies and eating cake. It has past been the time of our fated kiss. It has past been the time of my fairytale. I now start to cry because of the foolish mistake I made of loving him even when he did not show. After waiting until sunrise, I am leaving despite the fact of the tiresome gift getting. But what am I to expect none the less of seeing his exhausted face in the shimmering sun light’s pink rays. Throwing all past emotions away, I run to him.
Hugging as tightly as possible making sure I don’t let go of him any longer, I mutter my true feelings with tears running down my face.
“I love you.”
Soon after the lovely hug and kiss, we exchange presents. I will immediately go first because of Timmy’s anxious expression. I soon pull out a black, square box with his wonderful gift inside. Handing him the box I smile without the slightest clue of the fate before us.
Opening the box and peering inside, Timmy starts loudly laughing gasping for air in between bursts. I hadn’t a clue why he started laughing and crying at the same time. After receiving my gift, I soon start to laugh as well. We are such a foolish couple! To sell what we have in order to get a corresponding gift in which the other does not have is just a thing a foolish couple would do. I would’ve never thought Timmy would sell his watch to get me a wonderful present such as this! And for me to do the same in return is just hilarious. We are such a foolish couple but we are in love.
