Lalala- oh, hey, there! Feel free to browse; this world has no rhyme or reason.

Manga obsessed!

The first manga I ever read was Fruits Basket. Sure, I'd flipped channels late at night and stopped to look at the odd Bleach or Naruto episode, but never for more than a few seconds. I watched Pokemon and Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z with my brother. I watched Yu-Gi-Oh and loved Digimon. I watched because they were on. I didn't relate them to anime, I didn't consider myself a fan, and these were NOT how I became a fan of the genre. I was just following a fad. How I REALLY got started was another story. The oddest thing about how I got started was who got me started. It was my English teacher.

At the end of grade six, she gave us an assignment: read one book of each genre. I read a chapter book, a few short stories in the text book to pass off as other genres, and then came comic books. I didn't know where to get MARVEL comics, and Archie would have worked, but I decided that I'd try the manga in the back of the room. I'd seen my friend reading them, so of course I asked her about the series first. She said it was weird. Alright, a little more detail? Unfortunately, she laughed and told me to read it. So I did.

I was hooked. All throughout the summer I was trying to find more of Fruits Basket on the internet. I watched innumerable youtube videos, which hardly let me know anything more than I already knew, and tried drawing the characters a little bit. But I wasn't getting anywhere.

Entering into grade seven, (and finding a few new faces, but mostly the same ones, lucky me,) I was doodling Tohru and Yuki on my notes all the time, and even a few annoyed Kyos. A new girl leaned over and said "hey, that looks like a character from a manga I'm reading."

I thought maybe she'd have the books and I could finally read them, so I said "which one?"

"Fruits Basket," she replied. "I just got the second book. Would you like to borrow it?"

"Yes, please."

This girl and I became fast friends, usually talking about manga and anime. She got me Fruits Basket, Chobits and Inuyasha from the library. One day, she came to school with a grocery bag full of books. They were done in two days. She lent me the first Naruto, and the first FMA. She told me the best site for anime watching, and I started watching Naruto, Bleach and FMA. I tried to get my brother hooked, but after he went to the anime club at his school and got bored with it, he gave up. I stopped borrowing from my friend and started reading online, after I finished watching. I don't really watch anymore, really.

This friend still suggests the odd manga or anime, and now I've read enough to suggest some back. I've got a lot more to learn, (I really can't draw,) but I'm glad that I decided to read Fruits Basket instead of Archie. Really, really glad.

Dedicated to ChibiSasuke, the friend in question.

The Dump

Remember how I said that I hate yard work and I was tearing my yard apart? Well, you have to get rid of the sod somewhere, so after trading vehicles with my aunt, (who has a truck,) we loaded on the sod and went to the dump.

After paying 18 dollars to get rid of the stuff and making comment to each other about the severe good looks of the man at the booth, (my mother and I talk about everything,) we go and start chucking sod out of the truck. As we're working, my aunt comes over with our car and helps us out. By the end all she can say is "kay, bye, check out that guy's watch!"

I wouldn't have. I'm quite shy, to be honest. But my mom steps right up to the guy and says "kay, thanks, I'm supposed to look at your watch."

IT WAS AWESOME! Normally watches are just a circular face, blah blah blah, but this one had a big hole in the center. Around it was this turquoise part with an air bubble that showed the minutes, and a darker ring on the outside that showed the hour.

How can a guy who works at a dump afford something cool like that? Actually, where would he even get that?

Here's to paying attention to the little details. Thanks for reading! ~Mocha

The Yard

WARNING!! RANT AHEAD!

I hate my yard. I hate it with a passion. All the damn grass dies, the only thing that grows is weeds, and that stupid path in the middle doesn't go anywhere. So I'm tearing it up. The path has lost its rocks, has been filled with dirt, and will soon be covered in sod. The side will be cedar chips, so you can't see that there's such a difference between my wasteland and the Garden of Eden next door. Did you know that there are two Gardens of Eden? They're on either side of me. o Ae That and a lot of people go by my back yard, (though I won't say why, because dish ish dee interrwebsh) so they see this crap all the time. I just spent at least 16 hours of my summer vacation tearing up grass and shaking and scraping off dirt this week alone. Yesterday I got a break, (thank God) and today my mother is getting the weeds. I can sit and rant all I want. *Evil Grin*

If you've read all of this, congrats, you are probably quite bored. If you're laughing at me, I hope you have nightmares of giant dandelions chasing you while riding worms and waving thistle swords. Thistle, by the way, in the right climate, soil, and if given enough time, can become a tree. I know this because last year I cleaned up a forest.

OC

As if I'm not writing enough already, (I really DO have to work on that bloody novel. I'm almost done, though ^_^) I'm been inspired by thunderstorms to write something. I don't know how long it is going to be, but if you stay up to date with it you shouldn't fall too far behind. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do yet. I'm thinking it'll involve a demon, (because this is something that interests me,) and another one of my OCs. More in the tradition of my other characters, this one will be like me. You know, cynical, sarcastic, maybe kind of tsundere?? She'll also know exactly what to say, because I'll have time to think of comebacks.

Hopefully you'll check it out!
