HELLOs. MintIceCream here(MIC for short) tis a world about me, and the crazy antics of my 5 cats that just love to drive me nuts.

Age-20
Job-substitute teacher
Gender-female
i recently graduated from college with a BS degree in education, certified for art (I'm an art teacher). i currently sub teach while i shop for a job in my content area.

Mindy-my cat, she's a white cat with tabby splotches all over. She's 15 years old, nonsocial, phychotic, and crazy. But i love her all the same.

Texa-my dad's cat primarily, he has a tuxedo style coat. black with a white strip down his belly, on his paws, and the lower half of his face. he's also a manx(no tail) and very talkative. a gentle giant, very lovable, although he doesn't really like me to well. he's 11 years old. (he's also kind of a cranky old @$$)

Bogart-mom's cat. and mine sometimes. the very fat one of our family. he's 7 year old. a brown tabby who loves to raise chaos. he loves to terrorize the adults, and chew on everything. he's also a big pig and will eat anything. even though he's my mom's cat, he loves everyone. he's quite the ladies man. he prefers the company of women over men.

Sammie-Ryan's cat. 7 year old. he is all gray, with thick soft fur. the sweetest cat in the whole world. he isn't all that smart though, and kinda slow. definatley not our brightest bulb, but we love him all the same. he will do anything for a tidbit of human food, so i have managed to teach him a few tricks. his favorite food is gold fish. we try to tell him it's not a real fish, but he doesn't believe us.

Augustus (GUS for short)- everyone's cat. the newest addition to our family, we rescued him from a cousin who should be banned from owning animals. he was 5 weeks old when we got him, so tiny. he's now 3 years old. he is a miniture norwegian forrest cat. all black, orange eyes, and EXTREMLY fluffy. he is the baby of the family, and res1sident ninja/trouble-maker. he is also quite dog like. he will sit and shake paws for a treat, likes to play fetch, loves meeting new people, and go for walks on a leash and harness.

anyways, have fun, and enjoy the power of the minty-ness.

passed the test

Today I subbed in my favorite middle school for a spanish teacher, and we watched a movie/documentary on kids that are migrant workers. It was quite interesting.

On Tuesdays after school I have a Spanish class. The community college in my area gets a grant and offers Spanish classes to teachers for free. I was super excited when I found out cause we have a lot of Spanish speaking students in the district, especially ones with limited English. But this level one class is just 'here's 20 phrases we think are useful for teachers. Memorize them.' So there's no grammar, no actual learning Spanish. The teacher says something and wants us to repeat what she says. For 2 hours. Super boring. But today was the oral exam of our 20 phrases, and I passed with 18/20. The two I got wrong was just because I just slightly pronounced a word wrong, I did know the phrase. But I got a Spanish grammar workbook froma friend to learn actual Spanish and am working on that now. Everyone else is regurgitating whatever the teacher is saying, I'm ignoring them and actually truing to learn.

absolutely disgusting

Today I subbed for a computer teacher, who I've subbed for before. His classes are pretty smooth, and minus the last class, he has a good group of students. However, his desk in his office is the most disgusting thing ever. There is fodd bits and crumbs and slime all over, as well of mountains of paper and piles of trash (bottles, cans, wrappers, dirty napkins). And to top it all off, he has mouse traps on his desk. Why? Because he is such a disgusting pig that he has mice living in his desk. He shares thw small office with two other teachers, and do they have mice traps on their desks? Nope, because their desk is clean, liks normal people. There is some paper clutter, but no crumbs and slime and trash. Thankfully one of the others took pity on me and shared his desk with me, so that I didn't have to leave my stuff at the pitt or sit there during the plan period. Thank goodness.

Once home, I had wanted to go to the park and walk, but it was raining. So I finished binging Gotham, had some more spicy soup, and have in general just been relaxing with Mindy.

I love Sundays

After I fed Mindy her meds this morning, I defided to stay up and get some things done. Called my grandma to chat, put away my clean laundry, started a pot of super spicy chicken vegetable stew (which bubbled over when I wasn't paying attention and made a huge mess), and got some cleaning done. Before heading to church I stopped by my parents for breakfast. Dad made an egg/meat/potato scrambler.

For Sunday School, I found out the sub teacher I had for my kindergartners last week didn't follow the schedule I spent an hour writing up, and my kids told me all about the things they are used to us doing that the sub didn't do. They were very happy I was back and to have the normal schedule back. And for service we had a guest pastor giving the sermon. He was a nice guy, but boring. I hope our pastors come back next week.

After church was my weekly errand to walmart. I found some adorable onsie pajamas, super soft fleece. I got a camo one with a hood. I forgot to eggs though. So the cornbread I had planned to have with my soup tonight was a bust. Oh well. But I did get some subway for lunch which was a nice treat.

Once home I ate lunch, washed my new pjs, showered and snuggled into my chair for a tv marathon. I've been on a Scorpion and Gotham binge. I let my soup simmer all day after adding a TON of cayenne and red peppers. It was almost to spicy to eat. It burned fierce. And the pot made enough for 5 dinners, which means I won't have to cook for the rest of the week. Mom thinks it's gross rhat I make a meal and eat leftovers all week. But it's cheaper and less work than cooking everynight. It would be nice to have a hot fresh meal more often but that's just not something I can afford.

It was fun until . . . .

So I got to go back to sleep this morning after my alarm, I love that about saterdays. I would love to just sleep in and not have an alarm, but Mindy has to be medicated at 5:00 in the morning and afternoon, every day. So after getting her done I got to snuggle back into bed for a few hours before I had to get up to meet mom. We meet every saterday morning to swim and sauna. The pool was cold when we first got there though! Mom told me yesterday that when she was there the that the water was nice and warm, but today it wasn't. Burrrr. But we still managed to tough it out for about 90 minutes.

After swim and shower I managed to convince mom to go grocery shopping with me. Today was my monthly meal shopping trip, best day of the month. I get to pick out new meals to munch, and pick up some snacks. The end of the month always sucks though. Being broke with only a few things in the fridge/pantry to scrounge together.

After shopping it was off to mom's house to have lunch and groom her 4 cats. She loves hee cats, but is too lazy to groom them. So once or twice a month I come over to brush fur, trim claws, de-mat, and wet wipe them all down, and get paid for it. But her youngest, Gus, his mane is growing back so quickly. In a few weeks I'm going to have to take him to a professional groomer to fet it trimmed down.

Tonight my plans are laundry, cleaning the apartment, and tv. Relax at home in my empty, quiet apartment. My friend just was with me for an entire month, visiting from tennessee and to go to the anime convention with me. And I dearly love my friend, but her being my 'roommate' for a month reminded me as to why I don't have a roommate or a spouse/significant other. I love my quiet apartment and living by myself with just my old kitty.

still at school, but oh well

So I suppose I shouldn't be posting now, seeing as how school hasn't let out for the day, but I'm a bit bored. The class I'm sub teaching right now is in the computer lab working on a power point project for a bit, then we're heading back to the classroom to watch a movie to end the day. Today was supposed to be an easy day, but it had a hectic start. I talked to the teacher I'm subbing for today yesterday, and she said she had first block plan so I didn't need to worry about coming in early to go over the lesson plans. So I didn't, and when I got her the office was freaking out. Not because I wasn't here early like usual, but because they had a TON of other teachers call out sick this morning and no one to take their classes. So they asked me to do some extra coverage. I agreed, but then what I had been expecting to be an easy start to the day wasn't because I had to head up to the other teacher's classroom to get set up. And they left me no plans for the class. Joy. So I snagged a movie (Dirty Jobs season 5), and had them relax.

Tonight I'm going to meet up with my parents to see the movie 33 that comes out tonight. Then bed, I'm tired from this week. Movie then snuggles with my kitty for tonight.
