This WORLD features all official updates from our network.

Major Upgrade: New Main Pages!

Dearest Otaku:

All of our sections (like Fan Art and Wallpapers) have shiny new main pages. These pages have been in the works for a long time and feature a number of carefully thought out new elements:

(1) Highlights new art alongside 'popular' art: One of the big complaints against our old layout was that it only displayed the 16 more popular thumbnails on the main page. Now you get 8 popular thumbnails and the 8 most recent thumbnails, great for up-and-comers.

(2) Randomly features one new work of art every hour: Any art that's good enough to be on theOtaku.com in the first place is good enough to feature.

(3) Showcases members who contribute comments and submissions as well as first-time contributors. People who comment well on lots of works deserve as much recognition as those who submit. First-timers also get some love, I hope people will pay extra attention to helping them out.

(4) Emphasizes challenges so you can quickly see what's about to expire and what's the most entered. Challenges is one of my favorite parts of this site so I hope this helps promote it even further.

It's risky to make such a dramatic change to our site and I know it'll take some time to get used to it, but I hope that a month from now you'll never want to go back.

Cheers and please leave all feedback in the comments!

theOtaku.com Anime Podcast IX - Ep. 10

Y'know what? I enjoy correct grammar as well... also, Chinese tradition is you eat noodles on your birthday for long life, not on New Year's. The more you know, I guess...

Caption Battle: Rated M For Manly...

"It's that time again..."
"To avenge our mothers?"
"To shut the front door?"
"No... it's time for this week's caption battle!"

But first, last week's winners:

In third place, because we can see it happening in real life: cowboysean!

From the creators of Poltergeist and the cast of Squid Girl comes the newest horror film from Japan: Prawnzilla.

IN second place, 'cause everyone loves a good oxymoron: Solenm Serpent!

Realizing that she was indeed a 'jumbo' shrimp, Sanae's mind shattered once she'd grasped the oxymoron.

And in the coveted first place, for a well-fitting relevance-based line... DemonKingAtticus!

The love between a Squid Girl and a Shrimp Girl is a beautiful thing. Unfortunately, the Governor of Tokyo wants to ban that as well.

Bwahaha... oh Tokyo... anyway...

This week's screencap comes courtesy of Lyndy Lou and features the series Lucky Star. Girl behind the doujinshi is Kagami. Let's do it, to it:

You know the drill: type up the funniest, wittiest, most original caption you can think of for the screencap above in the comments below. Also, if any of you would like some tips on writing a great caption, you can find those here.

And like always, theOtaku is open to all submissions and suggestions for weekly feature content. You have a screencap you want used, you can PM me and we can do somethin' about it. So good luck, and remember: true love is breaking someone out of jail.

I'm listening to this episode as I post this because I'm running late in my weekend work! I bet this is a great podcast and that Ichigo says something funny at some point. Also, happy new year! Also, apparently I need to get my microphones and stuff all in check now...
