You don't have to tell people what anime you like, no. It's just an optional feature that might be useful for people, especially younger members who are new to the whole forum thing.

I hope you can figure out why the registration link wasn't working right, but it's nice to know you've turned it off so people can access the site.
I'll have to check out the new field for listing one's favorite anime. ^_^
