Note: I dislike valentine's day with a fiery-passion, but I read my sister's ( KyuuketsukiTsuki) story so I felt in the mood to write about it... How strange the ways of the mind work... *sigh* And of course (sorry sis) I'm on my crazy Harry Potter streak so it will have some Harry Potter references in it!
Walking in the hallways, all alone. Watching the couples hold hands and share forbidden kisses while the teachers aren't looking, all alone. I should be happy, my best friend has now finally found the perfect guy for her (thanks to me), but now I'm all alone. February the fourteenth, Shaking my head I think, It should be banned. It was just another holiday to make Hallmark rich along with the people who make chocolate, and it was just another day to remind me that I'm single.
I clutch my old, worn-out books to my chest, as if they could block out the thoughts, the pain. Jeers followed her as I walk by, exspecially from the perfect, blonde, flawless cheerleaders. What was so great about them? I shake my head again as I walk to my band locker. You'd think with almost 3,000 kids in the entire school they'd have more lockers...
I open the locker to put away the old, faded Harry Potter books that I started to read in second grade that were my constant companions away to pull out my flute. It seemed like the only two things that you could count on was books and music. The thought was strangely comforting, but as I pulled my flute out completely out of the locker something heavy fell out of it. Strange, I had enptied it out just yesterday, I thought, nothing could be in it.
Reaching down to the floor, I pick out a single, red rose along with a heavy envolope. Now, my hand shaking slightly, I open the envelope to see a single peice of paper. It was a drawing of...her. She recognized her self immediately even though she was dressed in robes, with the Ravenclaw symbol on her robes and a pointed hat at an angle on her head, covering one of her eyes. Of course, she had books in her arms, everybody in the entire chool knew she always carried at least three books with her at all times...
But it was her eyes and the background that stuck her the most. Somebody had noticed that her eyes were a strange mixture of brown with brilliant splashes of green in them. Behind her was the Hogwarts castle with the lake, and a Hippogriff was behind her! Anxiously, she scanned the picture for any sign of who it was from, any at all. In the picture, there was a figure on the broomstick, flying above the girl holding out a rose... But he was all in shadow!
With a heavy sigh she carfully folded the picture back up and slipped it into one of the books (the third one, it was her favorite and big enough to hide it in thickness) before taking her flute along with her music to go play with the rest of the concert band with a hop in her step and a dreamy look in her eyes. Maybe, she thought, just maybe this valentines day wouldn't be so bad after all.
She went through the entire day as if she was in a dream, walking into walls and missing her bus... Not that that was uncommon in the first place. She was just at the beggining of her driveway when she saw a familiar figure step out of the trees. "Hi Luna," he said with a smile, "Did you finally enjoy your valentine's day?"
"Neville!" She gasped, "Are you the one that gave me the rose and the drawing?"
He nodded slowly, "Did you like them?"
"Like them?" her face broke into a huge grin, "I loved them! This is definately the best valentine's day ever!"
"Let me see you drawing, Luna." She pulled it out of her book as he pulled his wand out and tapped the paper three times. She gasped as it started to move. She watched as the boy in her drawing swooped down on his broom and sweep her off of her feet and bring her flying into the sky above hogwarts. They flew high into the sky among the stars and kiss her. When she finally looked up, Neville was very close to her.
"Happy Velentine's day, Luna." He wipsered.
Then he kissed her as he swept her up into her arms.
