Black and White, Shadow and Light

Aisling watched the man called Nino leave she turned to look at Ryuu who was being helped by Emiko and the redhead woman looked very angry. Aisling looked back at where the man had disappeared to decided to follow him.

She quickly found him and he turned around sharply and his cold sharp gaze fell on her. Aisling jumped and hid behind the corner. He was really scary but she didn't want to run away. She wanted to talk to him but her nerves were failing her.

"I know you're there," the man called out darkly. "Come out."

Aisling gulped. "S-sorry...p-please don't hurt me..." She stepped away from the corner and looked at the man. She tried to think of what she wanted to say but looking into his dark eyes made the words die in her throat.

"And you are?" He said darkly. He clearly didn't want anything to do with her and she began to regret following him.

"I...just...thank you for not hurting him." Not exactly how she wanted to start the conversation but that was one of the things she wanted to say to him. He vaguely reminded her of another man with the same dark and cold eyes but she couldn't really remember who that person was but she was sure that person was not a cruel heartless man down to the core and she was sure this young man was the same.

Nino blinked at her and nodded his head, "Indeed," was all he said and turned around to leave.

"Wait!...Please..." Aisling said suddenly and Nino stopped and turned to look at her darkly. "Wh-why did you hurt..the...them." Aisling did not voiced out spirits or ghosts. She was raised not to use those names often when talking about them for good manners the same way when you talk about the Fey.

Nino said nothing at first. He was either considering the questions but Aisling could tell he was trying to understand her. She suddenly realized she couldn't sense his emotions really. She only read his emotions by his expressions and looking into his eyes the normal way of reading someone's emotions. It could be because she just met him or that he had closed his heart completely. He was the second person she had met that had his heart closed off to everyone. The other one was Emiko.

"I harmed no one." He said. He turned around to walk away again but Aisling wasn't done asking questions.

"But then," She caught was wave of irritation from him and it sort of relieved her. It didn't seemed normal or right to her if she couldn't pick up any emotion from someone whether living or dead. "Why did you send the spirits on..."

"Were you not paying attention?" Nino said sharply and Aisling jumped. "They do not belong in the world of the living. The second their bodies die, they should feel no more attachment to the world.”

"Oh," Aisling said lowering her eyes to the floor. He was right. Spirits shouldn't stay earth bound for the rest of eternity. They must move on but spirits do have good reasons not to cross over. "But..."

“And you children with your powers in the cradle at best think that you have the skill and willingness to deal with these spirits. It’s atrocious,” Nino spat sharply. He took out a out a cigarette and started smoking. Aisling was not against smoking not that she smokes. She was used to smokers, her grandmother Ann O'Connor smoked. But she smoked pipes not cigarettes.

Nino looked at Aisling and Aisling tried to think of something to say as he remained silent. She watched him as he smoked. He was a cold and acted heartless. Aisling did not believe in that word. The definition Heartlessmet someone acts cruelly without reason and it was evil but Aisling was taught not see in the world in black and white. There must of been a good reason for his cold and harsh actions and her brain came up with a possible conclusion.

"Did...did something happen to you?" She asked him. The people she knew with the Sight were all good people. Her family, Ryuu and Emiko; although she was distant sometimes. So something must of happened to him to make him acted that way towards spirits and even people. "All the people that can see ghosts I've met...are...nice...And..."

She trailed off as Nino shook his head.

"Nothing happened to me," He said sharply and Aisling realized she shouldn't have pried into his feelings and past. She adverted her eyes. "S-sorry..." She said.

“You’re all just weak and don’t even know what you’re doing,” Nino stated sharply as he placed the cigarette back in his mouth. “Go back to your friends and leave me alone,” he ordered as he turned around once more starting down the hallway. “Next time I catch you following me, you won’t get off so easy, kid.”

Aisling watched him leave until he had disappeared. She sighed and turned to return to Emiko and Ryuu.

He was right. She was weak. She couldn't fight, she was never the fighting type. She'd rather talk it out in a peaceful manner than resort to violence. But after seeing Ryuu and Nino fight it struck her that they're might come a time she will be forced to fight. She never thought she needn't to fight when working to deal with exercising spirits. Faeries and inhuman entities were another thing but what would happen if she in a middle of situation where she had to defend herself and others but negotiations is out of the questions?

Aisling felt like a huge weight hug on her shoulders and began dragging her feet to the room.

When she rejoined with her friends Emiko told her stay in the room with Ryuu. Aisling just nodded as Emiko left the room.

"Where's she going?" Aisling asked Ryuu there were no other chairs so she decided to sat on the floor with her back against the wall.

"I don't know, to talk to that jerk." Ryuu muttered he adjusted the ice pack on his head and made a pained face.

"Are you alright?" Aisling stood up and walked over to him. She accidentally touched his shoulder and she felt pain shot in her head. She quickly back away from Ryuu and nursed her throbbing head.

"Aisling what's wrong?" Ryuu said looking at her with concern.

"Um it's my empathy power." Aisling said. "When I touched you I could feel your pain from your injuries."

Ryuu blinked at her in surprised and then looked abashed, "Sorry I didn't want you to feel my pain when I deserved it."

"It's not your fault. I should of remember not to have touch you. I'm still in a sponge stage."

"A what?" Ryuu said and Aisling shrugged and explained, "It's when I touch someone I could feel their pain whether I want to or not."

Aisling sighed and leaned against the wall.

"Where did you run off to?"

"I went to talk to that guy Nino."

"Why did you do that?!" Ryuu said incredulously. "You do know that guy could chew you up and spit you out without blinking an eyelash."

"I'd only wanted to know why he was harsh to spirits when he exercised them." Aisling slid down and sat on the floor. "But I was being a pest. I don't know what I'm here for."

"To help people out. Spirits and humans alike."

"Yeah but I'm not much help."

Ryuu frowned at her. "What are you talking about? You're a great help." Ryuu said he leaned back in his chair and adjusted the ice pack again. "You know what spirits are feeling and it helps us understand what they want and it helps get the job done quicker. Your tarot reading hasn't failed us yet."

Aisling remember her tarot cards and pulled her deck out. "Speaking of which. The cards sent a warning by themselves."

"What?"

"It happens sometimes. The card moves on their own and give me a warning even when I don't ask them."

"How's that possible? Are they possessed?" Ryuu eyed the cards grimly. "What was the warning?"

"Someone was going to be caught up in trouble, they must be cautious or someone or something will be vanquished."

"Someone..or something?" Ryuu said slowly.

Aisling shrugged and she stiffen as she sensed a dark, twisted and sickening feeling vibrated in the air. She sensed a very bad presence. "Ryuu..." Aisling said but Ryuu held his hand to sigh her to be quite. He looked around the room suspiciously. He sensed it too.

They sat there in anticipated silence and Aisling felt the air grow thick and heavy.
She looked at the side of the room and let out terrified scream as a giant horrifying black mass materialized into the room.

Okay that's it. I hoped you liked it. I thought adding a black mass demon spirit thing would make things interesting.
