This is my entry for the Halloween Writer's Jam.

Bizarre Similarity

Sora and Riku had been friends for as long as they could remember. They'd been chatting to Kairi about what costumes they were going to wear for Halloween.
"We have to go trick or treating at Radiant Garden" laughed Sora, "You guys have to meet the others."

Kairi had decided on her costume; she would be going as a demon. Sora and Riku had yet to decide. With Halloween only a few days away, they needed to chose and fast. Kairi thought that she would leave them to argue.

"Hey, why don't you ask Riku's mum? She used to work for some weird company or something, she might have some ideas," yelled Kairi as she headed home.

Sora and Riku headed off to find Riku's mum. "Mum, we need some help!" said Riku, as Sumire came round the corner. She was a tall and intimidating woman with long dark hair. "What do you need help with Riku? Oh, I see you brought your friend with you." smiled Sumire, "Halloween costumes, right? I knew this would happen. You two really need to think of these things earlier. I'll see what I can do."

Sora blinked in shock as she opened up her filing cabinet. He wondered how she could have immediately known what they wanted.

"Ah, perfect," purred Sumire. She had selected two files marked with "PROJECT: TOP SECRET" to base costumes on. The word in front of "PROJECT" was covered by her arm. "Riku, there's food in the fridge. I'll be back with the materials later."

The fateful day arrives...

Sumire smiled at her son as the boys headed off in full costume. "Like father, like son," she sighed. "If only the Professor could see him now. He is far superior to his father. Let's hope he doesn't have the same flaws."

"Wow, those are awesome costumes, guys" gasped Kairi, "I can't wait to see the looks on people's faces!"

"We'd better get going then," said Sora and the three friends headed over to the gummi ship and made their way to Radiant Garden.

They giggled happily as they headed towards the headquarters of the Restoration Committee. They'd got some rather odd looks but assumed that it was because of the costumes' quality. Sora knocked on the door which opened quickly.

Tifa screamed. Cid gasped. Yuffie ran away and hid in the corner. Cloud stood absolutely still for a few seconds before fainting and Aerith burst into tears.

"Um... Trick or treat?..." said Riku, hopefully. Leon raised an eyebrow.

"Kairi, your costume is wonderful. Riku, did your mother make yours and Sora's?" he asked.

"Um, yeah she did. Why?" Riku was getting increasingly nervous.

"Only Sumire would know enough and have a cruel enough sense of humour to send two boys dressed as Sephiroth and Genesis to the home of Cloud Strife and his friends."
